What level of health care coverage do student athlete's receive for injuries they sustain while competing (games or practice)? I really don't have a clue who covers the fees for surgeries and rehab.

They have the purple and gold package with Obamacare.

I would imagine that the school has insurance that covers all that. Nevermind the access to the best doctors available for any kind of injury or illness. My guess would be it's pretty close to what medical care professional athletes get.

Didnt pay for a single thing, not even co-pay. My wisdon teeth removal was even fully covered, because it was causing me pain.

Their health care is free. Everything is covered even if it did not occur during a sporting event. I think there is even a rider option for their children/spouses.

Does this apply to "Walk On" athletes as well, or do scholarship athletes the only individuals that can receive "Free" health care.

I would imagine if the player gets hurt on team time, its' covered by some kind of team or school insurance.

Walk-Ons were covered just the same. As long as it wasnt considered cosmetic it is covered 100%. So like I said my wisdom teeth removal was covered due to pain and swelling. To be honest, the DR told me to say that so it would be covered

What about lingering issues from injuries? Say you busted up a knee while playing and when you're 40 it has to be scoped?
What I'm asking is is it like the VA where if you get hurt in service that injury is service connected and they take care of it for life?

Well thanks for your guess. He was actually looking for a true answer. But maybe he really just wanted your guess.

Hmm, I had a teammate that had a knee fixed post eligibility, but it was right after the season was over. Not sure if there is a statute of limitaions
