i'm no expert but it looked like auburns game plan on defense was to stop the run and defend the jet sweep, shovel pass and passes to the TE. with the exception of a couple of jet sweeps and some nice Guice runs late in the game, they did all of that.

and we still won. Canada coached a damn good game and the players executed very well. those jet sweeps that worked were disguised some way because Auburn was not ready for them. our PASSING game and special teams play (esp the punt return) WON THE GAME!

I am still in a state of shock. happy tho. I guess Mett was the QB the last time I remember hitting so many first down passes on 3rd and long.

mett is the only good QB we have had since flynn who can read a defense. let that sink in. Our Qb troubles the last 10 years have been horrendous.

Auburns defense played very good. Luckily Gage broke off a 70 yard run and Chark took the punt back to the house.

I still believe auburn is a good team, capable of beating Bama.

I also believe that LSU is growing up and getting healthy at the right time.

Give Danny Boy credit for cashing on 3rd and long. He was admirable in that regard - best game of his LSU career! He is our QB for 2017. Roll w it!

for the most part I agree. LSU played a whale of a game and fought like crazy to pull it out.

I don't know about that. if Bama's db's are as good as ours I don't think Stidwell can beat 'em and I doubt they will run well against them.

true dat. our DL play yesterday is a perfect example of that.

Etling and this offense need to be in the shotgun from here on out. That drive to end the first half was a thing of beauty. 8 plays, 75 yards, moving the ball on a consistent basis.

Etling is so much better, the OL is better, the reads are quicker, we're not looking for the deep PA so much, etc.

I don't know. if I remember that great jet sweep was from under center and it surprised the hell out of Auburn. I do agree that most snaps should be from the gun tho

Their pass rush was predictable on 3rd downs. OL knew what to expect, especially from where... which helped alot.

It also helped Etling and the offense with those passes. The 3rd and long game plan was to pass to where the blitz came from. Nothing new there, done all over in football. But since it was predictable AND they didn't disguise it well it made it easier for Etling and receivers to be on same page.

Kudos to Canada for both having a plan, and preparing the O to execute it.

We were 6-17 on 3rd downs. Definitely not great. But considering many of them were indeed long, I'll take it. Crazy thing is, of those 6 conversions, 4 were 8 yds to go or greater.

If we'd just quit getting into those type situations (better running game) things would improve dramatically.

ETA: 'only' 3 each 3-n-outs yesterday. Again, not great but considering the circumstances, not bad.

I'm happy LSU got revenge on that sack of shite Steele. It's his fault thanks to our shitty defense that the 2015 season fell apart. LSU's offense was actually pretty good in 2015.

LSU and Steele gave up 19 or more points in each of the first 10 games for the first time in LSU history. They gave up 19+ points in 11/12 games.

He had to be, as we averaged 2nd and 9-10.
