Steele was the end to the miles era.

Why the hell did miles hire him? He failed everywhere he's been. Miles has been successful before with bad o cords but this is the first with a bad d cord.
Who does the hiring here? Did anybody look at his resume before offering the job? Is it miles only that does the hiring or is there someone else I can blame?

When Les hired him I knew this was trouble for Les. Les has won a lot of games with good D and STs and a questionable O. Without the good D and adding in BDP, you have nothing left to work with.

Chavis's left New Years Day pretty late in the game. No available guys have to go take someone from another team.

And BDP didn't help either.

Alleva handcuffed Les' DC search with the "Les Miles clause". All part of his master plan

Anyone would have been a better hire then him. He has set record lows everywhere he's been, including here.

Think we settled. No way this could have been our first choice. Miles wanted Chavis to stay. Alleva did not meet Chavis' demands and left.

NO! The downfall was Haley, Chavis, and Miles not landing top talent on the defensive front 7. Coach O was hired in the midnight hour to restore the talent which is exactly what he's doing. Unfortunately, for Les, he's just out of gas. Nothing wrong with that, but he needs to recognize that and take the buyout.

Yeah steeles defense has done this team no favors.

What are the chances Saban hires him back after this year and steals all our recruits

Alleva was probably sick and tired of opening the checkbook and having to pay top dollar for every damn coach on staff to make miles look good. Especially considering Miles brings jack shite to the table as far as actual coaching a football player or specific unit goes.
We settled because Alleva tightened the rope on Miles.
Alleva knew what he was doing and he likely expected this outcome.

Miles has had far worse defenses, but all people can do is live in the very now.
Steele was never a long term solution. He was a temporary solution. He was one of the few with recruiting, experience, and willingness to keep all of the position coaches.. which allowed the program to step up recruiting. Our defensive recruiting is finally addressing important needs.
Miles is responsible for his coordinators. Steele did well with what he had and on such quick conditions. We were thin where it matters most and it caught up for us. but we did enough to be competitive. The offensive line let us down more. We gave up more in a game last year than we have yet to do this season. The D made enough stops for us to be competitive, but the Offense sputtered too often an special teams did us no favors this season either. If you want to see worse defense look at the Mississippi St/Arkansas game both giving up 50 points, or how about the Arkansas/Ole Miss game prior.. Our defense wasn't good a year ago, they benefited in the cupcakes games, but in SEC play they weren't good.. especially early on in the season.. We at least got our turnovers, sacks, and tfl up this season. Still need to do better, but again we had huge holes that needed to be addressed in recruiting. Steele was a stop gap IMO, and Miles' time is nearing any ways..

Our defense gave up 20 plus points for 9 games in a row and the 10th was 19 points. The first time in lsu history that has happened and half the teams we played had backup qbs. Chief is doing more with less at a+

I was thinking about this earlier. You talk about a killshot from Saban! Send us his LB coach so we could hire him as DC, leading some of us to think we'd have some type of advantage being he knows Saban, but ultimately contrbutes to his arch nemesis getting fired. Now imagine if Saban hires him again

Miles is the end to Miles era.
Putting it on Steele is stupid
Miles lost 5 games a year ago with some ugly games with Chavis
Miles was always too stubborn to a fault, and it was bound to catch up to him

First, im not saying it's not miles fault, he hired him. And he also hired a lot of bad o cords.
But steele was by far the worse. Chief kept us in those games. Bama didn't even have to pass on us this year. Miles stubborn style of coaching worked with a good defence, which he's had before this year.

alleva wouldn't sign anyone past two years. miles got set up. pay back for holding the program hostage everytime a new HC job opened up.
i'm getting sick of some people talking about what a great guy he is. he's a coach out for a buck like all of em.
