Walks on water. I just don't recall any coach in any sport having this sort of impact so quickly.

If Wade were to land Mitchell, does our administration take a harder look at things and perhaps start thinking long term? Undoubtedly, he could become an extreme hot commodity with his recruiting ability and assuming LSU performs well this year.

The question around here has always been, "Would LSU pay similarly to the elites to keep a young Donovan, Calipari, Krzyzewski, Stevens, Self, etc" Additionally, would LSU invest more in the infrastructure surrounding the basketball program to keep a young up and comer?

Listen, we are all really excited but let's let him coach some a actual games before we give him a lifetime contract.

yeah I've been on board the wade wagon since he was initially linked to the job and what he's done with the shite roster he inherited since taking over is nothing short of amazing....

but let's give him at least a season under his belt before we lock him up for life

If LSU was not willing to enter into a bidding war in football, what would lead anyone to believe that they would do that for basketball?

If we historically look at our basketball hires, the answer would be no. But we can always hope.

Hasn't coached one damn game yet.

I wonder if some of you are this impulsive in your personal lives.

They gave him 6 years off the bat. That's good faith. Now if he delivers like we think he can, I fully expect him to get a raise and extension in 2-3 years. LSU should not lose a coach they want to keep over money.

Of course we would. we are one of the most profitable athletic departments in the country. I think Will Wade is more than aware that he has an opportunity to build something very special here. Given the history and local talent, outside of the extreme blue bloods, there isn't a better job out there if he is winning here, similar to what Donovan did at Florida.

I didn't go to a game last year and I'm contemplating season tickets.

you're comparing apples to oranges there

if LSU is successful under Wade they won't be outbid unless its by one of the true blue blood CBB programs.

Looking at the prospects just a few weeks ago - Mitchell Robinson makes LSU a contender immediately.

So, if the team catches fire, I think the administration will respond appropriately. Wade has to know this could be a destination job (unless he wants to go to the NBA at some point.)

Yes. He's single - minded and highly competent. I expect he will produce a sound, hard- nosed team that is ready to work together on the court.

Makes you wonder what could have happened if Alleva wouldnt have caved to "outside influences' and hired Johnny Jones.

Why? It's a discussion board. You took your ball and went home.

Another fool as well as a couple above you. The OP only suggested if something happens does it deserve a longer look. It's a GD discussion board!

You're basing this off of one guy who had no intention of ever actually coming here. Refusing to be used as leverage is not the same as refusing to enter a bidding war.

Joe has a lot of faults but he will break out the checkbook if the butts are in the seats, and we saw flashes of what attendance could be under JJ. Hell this board pitched a fit every time Miles got a raise, but Joe was happy to do it because the football program was turning in huge profits.

I can't help but look at the current roster and count all of the players that Wade has brought in. None of those guys would have come here for Jones. It is scary to think about how bad of a team we would have had. As bad as we were last year, I think we have been worse this year.

Hopefully Robinson comes here, that would really make us a contender in the SEC, we are still weak on the inside. I am assuming that the terms of his release depend on how much dirt he has on WKU
