Starter for tomorrow?

His name is John Valek. Senior transfer from Akron, who dropped baseball. We should see Bain midweek to start out.

I read that Valek is a tricky lefty who throws strikes. His velocity is low, and he won't get strikeouts.

I'm under the impression that he is starting because Bain and Smith have soreness. It will probably be fluid, but I expect Smith or Bain to lock down Sunday, with the other one getting the mid-week. Valek will probably end up in the bullpen where we don't have enough lefties.

I think The matchup is intriguing. Senior starter who is crafty. Junk throwing lefty who comes in a day after a power, 1st pick arm in Lange. The difference in looks frustrates hitters and timing is key in baseball. A junk lefty can destroy good lineups if they locate.
