~Spin Off Thread~ Huge misconception about a loud moment in TS

I've said it ad nauseam here but nothing in the last 20 years beats the blocked field goal against Bama in 2008

+1
We were sitting in the SEZ corner, and it was deafening. Darry Beckwith caught the blocked FG, but ran the wrong way. Had he run left and (possibly) run it all the way back, they'd be rebuilding DV as we speak..
I can't even comprehend what that would have sounded like...

I will never forget that

I was in the student section and ended up about 5 rows down from where I began the play.

YES IT IS OVERRATED. IT WAS VERY LOUD BUT THERE WAS NO TRUE SIGNIFIGANCE TO THAT GAME. NOT ONLY SHOULD THE FANS HAVE BEEN SO FOCUSED ON A GAME WE VERY WELL COULD HAVE LOST RIGHT IN FRONT OF US, BUT IT ONLY HAPPENED BECAUSE OF A LOT OF FANS' DELUSIONAL RIVALRY WITH A SCHOOL 1000 MILES AWAY THAT WE HADN'T PLAYED IN 20 YEARS.

What people tend to forget is that even with all that going on, Tebow immediately shoved a 5 play, 75 yard touchdown drive right up our asses to quiet things down a little. Say what you want about Tebow, but that drive was damned impressive given the circumstances.

Josh Jasper kickoff 62 yards to the UF8, James, B. return 17 yards to the UF25 (Richard Murphy).
F 1-10 F25 FLORIDA drive start at 07:43.
F 1-10 F25 Tebow, T. rush for 3 yards to the UF28 (Tyson Jackson;Kirston Pittman).
F 2-7 F28 Tebow, T. pass complete to Harvin, P. for 13 yards to the UF41, 1ST DOWN
UF (Darry Beckwith).
F 1-10 F41 Moore, K. rush for 5 yards to the UF46 (Darry Beckwith;Craig Steltz).
F 2-5 F46 Moore, K. rush for 17 yards to the LS37, 1ST DOWN UF (Curtis Taylor).
F 1-10 L37 Tebow, T. pass complete to Ingram, C. for 37 yards to the LS0, 1ST DOWN
UF, TOUCHDOWN, clock 05:16.
Ijjas, J. kick attempt good.

That made it 24-14 FLA at the time.....but they would not score again

The USC score wasn't that loud because many ppl knew the result before it was announced in TS. Is anyone with me, is that "loud moment" overrated??

bullshite. No one's phones were working because of bad signal with so many people in the stadium. That moment was not overrated one bit.

How you fail to understand why the score announcement excited people is a complete mystery to me. USC was #1 and lost. We had a chance to be ranked #1 in the regular season for the first time in what... 50 years?

You make the rules for how fans should act? Did cheering about the score in any way affect the outcome of the game? Did the fans not cheer the rest of the game?

For whatever reason, he takes REAL issue with the fact that people were excited about USC losing. He conveniently ignores the fact that we had just scored and the crowd had already been in a frenzy the whole game and was in a frenzy for the duration of the game.

It wasn't just the announcement... It was a crucial time in the game and the fans realized how big that moment was. We could beat tebow, claim #1 in the regular season for the first time in 50 years, night game on national TV... It was the perfect storm of energy and emotion.

It was announced during a commercial break and Florida had the ball (if my memory is right) I remember tebow and the Florida offense couldn't hear their sidelines when play resumed. It was a sustained, deafening volume.
correct

and not only that.

this is the only time I can think of where both LSU and the opposing team and fans were cheering that loudly together

this had just as big of implications for UF

Their team was on the sidelines going nuts as well

not sure why you have to lie to get your point across when everyone knows we were already #1 before the game

Excuse me, oh great one. It was 7 years ago. USC was a very good team that was knocked out of contention and (seemingly) was no longer a threat to us and was taken out of the NC picture by a crazy upset. And we had just scored. And it was a crazy atmosphere and the tension was palpable. If only everyone else had your refined world view.
