NOLA
quote:

LSU coach Ed Orgeron said on his weekly radio that cornerback Donte Jackson would take punt return duties this year.

quote:

Jackson has seen spot duty as LSU's kick returner the last two seasons but hasn't a fielded a punt since his freshman season

quote:

As a freshman, Jackson returned eight kicks for a 20.5 average and four punts for a total of six yards. Last season, he returned seven kicks for a 23.4 average.

Ross Dellenger:
quote:

Orgeron says the FG kicking battling is on-going, between Gonsoulin and Culp. KO job also between Culp and Gonsoulin. #LSU

Andrew Lopez:
quote:

Coach O says Clyde Edwards-Helaire will handle some of the kickoff return duties and Donte Jackson will be used as #LSU's punt returner.

Christopher Dabe:
quote:

O says #LSU is better in special teams with Greg McMahon as a consultant for the on-field coaches.

quote:

Greg McMahon comes to the office at 4 a.m. and leaves at 10 p.m., O says. #LSU

praise dear baby jesus. tired of seeing gamble on fricking scholarship when he can only kick the ball in fair play 50% of the time.

edit; 22.22% of his kickoffs were for touchbacks with 3 out of bounds. horrible. CFB Stats

Gamble is a candidate for most wasted scholarship by Les and his bald headed BBQ buddy.

I'm not sure how I feel about Donte fielding punts, from a ball security standpoint.

Donte better learn to hang on to the damn football. I'd much rather have Chark back there with his sticky hands. Donte has the ability to burn anybody on the field though. Should be exciting.

I'm sure O has him on a short leash. Hopefully our special teams can be somewhat productive this year. Donte has breakaway speed and if he gets the slightest hole he's gone.

Gonsoulin has it IMO

I'm glad both of these guys will get the ball in their hands on special teams. I personally think Clyde is better suited for punts than kick offs but they have obviously seen more and like what they've seen.

All reports are accurate as to how close Jack and Connor are. Objectively speaking, I think Jack is putting up a better ball. Rotation is cleaner and he is having fewer mis-hits. Connor does have a little stronger leg, so there are times when he will have a mis-hit but the ball still helicopters through.

Backing off the FG made vs missed or the ability to land 5+ deep in end zone and looking at ball flight, rotation, hangtime, and repeatability....I would give a slight edge to and start Jack.

I'd rather have 22 yards per return and ball security, than 28 and your occasional fumble.

You knew Gamble would be a wasted scholly when his own high school wouldn't even let him kick field goals

I ultimately got over it, because it was working. However, I was with you guys for a long time.

I'm sure, among many aspects of Special Teams, this one got the attention of Greg McMahon as consultant. Hopefully, Special Teams will show the most significant improvement from last year.

While white had some head scratchers on fielding decisions. He averaged more yards per return than obj did when he took over.
