I wasn't sure if the last post was previously known info or not, but it was well received, so I figured I'd share some more of the conversation.

Jacoby's dad said Nick Saban fell in love with Jacoby during a workout involving one of the nation's best junior college DBs. They did the traditional drill where the player backpedals and then when the ball is thrown, the player has to flip his hips and track down the ball to make a play on it. The junior college player went first, and he struggled a bit with taking the right angles, catching the ball, etc. So Jacoby comes up and performs the footwork and hip flipping aspects of the drill perfectly, plus, by the time the ball had gotten to him, he was already standing still and snagged it with one hand, showcasing his speed and catching ability. This obviously caught Saban's eye, so he repeated the drill a few times, and on the final time, they brought out the jugs machine and just launched one - basically putting Jacoby in a position to fail, yet he still performed perfectly and caught the ball. Saban turned to his coaches and Jacoby's dad and said, "I absolutely have to have this kid." In fact, Saban personally called the family every week. Alabama wanted him bad.

In the other post, I saw a few people questioning why Jacoby would move to WR when he knows his money's at safety, therefore he's just wasting a year of development. This isn't exactly true because Jacoby goes to offensive AND defensive meetings. He meets with Corey Raymond and the DBs and also attends all the meetings a normal WR would attend. He doesn't mind it either. He loves watching film and he just loves football. His dad said that after High School games, he'd come home on Hudl and watch film as soon as it was made available.

This may be less interesting, but there's just some extra info from our conversation!

Serious question, will there be a Part 3?

Great post and 'inside' knowledge is always great.

Impressive that we were able to sign him with the hard sell from Saban.

When he moved to WR I heard it was for this season only as of now. This kid needs to play and unlike Miles, our current coach sees that. I see him moving back to safety full time next year and possibly playing a role on offense in spots.

Played high school in Tennessee I believe

ETA: My bad, I misread the question. The dad was a track star from Louisiana (don't know exactly where).

If I had unlimited time to talk to him, there'd be a Part 10, but you can only talk about so much in 20 minutes

Good stuff.. Yeah idk why people questioned his ability at WR. It's painfully obvious that he has all the traits needed to play that position and possibly more then the average.

If he's that good at safety this could only help IMO. Gives teams the option to play him at safety or WR in the NFL. He's a natural athlete and could play both at the highest level IMO.

I just think he's going to do so well at WR that he wouldn't want to go back. Then again he could always play safety once we have the depth at WR then he would have film at both positions. Hope he's successful at either one.

Says a lot about Saban, his mindset, and why all of his players suck in the NFL. He's the greatest of all time at winning college football games but that's where his contribution to his players ends, they don't really seem like much more than his pawns in his eyes IMO

He committed when Les was still the head coach.

But yeah the last coach never played freshmen, like ever. He recruited so many 3*s they all stayed 5 years and never saw pt until 3 years into the program.

He was considered the #1 talent in TN out of HS. Everyone here who follows HS football knows just how telented he is.

2 of the greatest LSU players of all time had ability to play both ways...Tommie Casanova and Patrick Peterson. If he demonst antes that level of talent the next 3 years, he will be something special on both sides of the ball.

I'd like to see what Quentin Tarantino could do with it.
