If she specified a room, make sure that you call ahead and ask the manager to tell you both when you arrive that this room (your room) was the only thing available, or there was a mix up etc., he'll be happy to oblige.

During the summer, you should sit down together with the calendar and circle the gamedays. Once times are posted, make sure everyone is aware. That schedule then becomes the bible to which all other activities revolve. End of story.

It's as big of an issue for your kid as it is for you if his mom schedules his birthday party in direct conflict with LSU's biggest game of the year. This is a good way for a kid to have a party that nobody shows up for.
I predict several no-shows and several parents who do show, only to drop off a present (or worse, a present and a kid) and then take off for the next three hours.
