Landry, Bell, and Simmons haven't played well through any of these games really. I know its the beginning of the season just a little shocking how lost they have been at the plate. Whats most disappointing is that they give us 8 walks, had the bases loaded with no one out. Gave them and unearned run and we still lose. Torina is really infuriated with Bell right now, you could see it in her face.

Not going to put much worry into all this, so early in the season. Remember last year we peaked too early.

We got to see a lot of different combinations this weekend, what incredible is every player on the roster made a contribution. These freshman I think will push some of these upperclassmen.

Was nice to get back onto the field this weekend.

Tigerbait,
With Bell and Kloss seniors, who will supply the power next year other than Janquish?

Sanchez will develop this year. She has pop but for next years class look at Amanda Doyle and Springfield. Those two will be nasty here

Yes, nice to see what talent is available from both the experienced and newcomers. The rookies reallly excelled on their first at bats which blew everyone away. Kudos young ladies and what great memories this will be for a good night's sleep. Just turn on auto replay.

I missed the first 4 innings of the 1st Pacific game and stats showed Ohio State for just about all games (and still do), but read their 2 runs were unearned. Guess NEXT theme is reaching it's meaning as I begrudgingly rather this early loss rather than a later one as we can learn from this. Also, being haunted by the 25 game win cycle from last year is no longer an issue. Maybe we can just enjoy the rest of the games....and win 'em all.

Next week should be fun and just wish it would be streamed! Our broadcasters, BTW, did a great job as they complimented each other. Yvette Girouard's knowledge of the game was interesting along with commentaries like the grand salami on one call.

Yeah, the Pacific runs last night were both unearned. We had plenty of baserunners, but not nearly enough timely hits to bring them home. Pacific also played great defensively to stop us from scoring. At least now the pressure of beating last year's 25-0 start is off, because you know this team was thinking about that, even if they won't say it.

I think the loss early this weekend was good for the team personally. It does relieve pressure I think. Plus, they gained confidence after todays win.

After today, the loss looks like it could be a very good thing in the long run. We came back today and responded very well by run ruling the same team that beat us. Even better, players who had been struggling at the plate were able to get on track.

Like I said before, I took some losses in the February tournaments as a high school coach to prepare for district and playoffs. I like the way we responded today.

I'll do my best to send updates from Palm Springs. Can't wait to get there.

One thing I love about this team is the expectation. Torina has the full, undivided attention of all her players. Whether it is All-Americans, like Jaquish & Bell or Freshmen, like Satchell and Sanchez, she knows how to get the best out of them. Now does she let them have a good time in the dugout, sure. However, once they step on the field, the ladies are business. I am very excited for the UCLA and Arizona matchups this weekend!

Me too as I live just above UCLA and swim laps there several times a week, with LSU plastered on my back window.

This weekend to me will pay dividends down the road. Everyone got some experience and I think the emergence of the freshman will give them confidence going forward, as well as pushing some of these upperclassmen. Thats how you continue to get better, by being surrounded by hungry, talented competitors who will push you to do your best.

Was great to see this team bounce back though, Pacific is also no slouch either. Next weekend will definitely be a challenge for our pitchers, I am excited.

Torina and Dobson get so much recognition for what they have done, but the dark horse Leftwitch doesn't get enough credit to me. She does so much in every aspect between hitting, defense, and recruiting. She is such wonderful person too, LSU couldn't have have hired better person either.

But all in all, this staff did a tremendous job this weekend and we all got a glimpse of what the future holds.

I would be curious to hear why she swapped Bell and Jaquish in the 3-4 holes in the batting order from last year. I don't think there is a wrong answer; I would just be interested in knowing why.

Also, I wonder about the leadoff spot. Landry led off the first 4 games and Griggs hit 2nd. Today, they swapped spots. I thought Landry was the best 2-hole hitter I'd ever seen last year...and I loved Griggs hitting 9th. This is a new year of course...I wonder where Landry ends up over the long haul. Again, I don't think there are necessarily any wrong answers here.

I think I like Landry better batting second, she seems to excel there with people being on. Being the lead off isn't easy as it looks.

Griggs could be our leadoff.

Bell and Jaquish are interchangeable to me, idk how you decide between 3 and 4 I think Jaquish hits the ball more consistently then Bell. Well from at practice at least. Jaquish hit a bit of a slump last year but she as good as a hitter as anyone on the roster. Both have a lot of power.

I hope Simmons will get back on track this coming weekend. She is defenitely not bad offensively, just a rough opening weekend so I am not too worried.

I am interested though on the competition at 2B, should be good one. Probably gonna be between Sanchez, Quinn and Serett.

Even that last spot in the outfield will be interesting, while Bourg is good defensively, she is solid at the plate. I wonder if they will move Landry or Griggs to center. Thornhill from what I have been told has been coming on strong lately and she has been very good offensively. Solid defensively as well.

We likely will see more mixtures next weekend as well. But I mean this a great problem to have. So many options compared to other years. I am looking forward to seeing Sydney Smith continue to grow

Great time to be an LSU Softball fan everyone

Don't forget about UCF this weekend who is also ranked near the top 10.

Can't wait to get on the plane on Thursday! Always fun for us softball junkies in Palm Springs.

"Geez Bell and Simmons look really lost at the plate. Really disappointing. I think we need to move Simmons to the bottom of the lineup."

Not. Here we go again this year....
