Very good pitcher. One of the best freshman pitchers in the country. While she hasn't pitched as much as the other two, she is very very good.

More faith in her than Hoover must be Torina's thinking.

I don't think Torina has more faith in her. I think she likes giving them a different look. Hoover will be quick off the bench if things aren't going well.

Carley never seemed to get totally comfortable with that pitchers' mound, so starting Smith is the right strategy.
