Wow! No shite. Guess LSU got dinged for it being at home and UW got a super duper bonus for losing two on the road?

Unfortunately, I think Softball only cares about RPI only based on previous years. We will likely host a regional then have to travel for supers. At the end of the day we put ourselves in this position.

Could we host a super by winning the SEC tournament? Or is it too far out of reach even with that? We gave up a lot of ground against UF and UK, but it looks like we're on the right track now.

Our RPI has dropped since the win streak has started haha. UK is behind us, so it is what it is. I would love to be in the James Madison super, even though their pitching is first class.

Cheerwhine, at this point, I highly doubt hosting a Super Regional, but winning a few games this week to stay away from Florida and Michigan would be great.

Have a sneaking suspicion we will be paired with Washington or maybe Oregon although not confident on Oregon their rpi is probably like in the top 4. Just basing this off the last several years being paired with a Pac 12 team. I'm sure whoever we get paired with though we be like crap since our team is playing better down the stretch.

Since the win streak has started, the ladies have dropped 2 spots in the RPI.

April 10th Softball RPI Rankings

For the top teams, it is a great indicator of placement, but outside of the top 8, it is a crapshoot. Last year, UGA had an RPI of 17, but received a 14 ranking. I think if the ladies have a good performance this week, they could be as high as 11-12.

Wish we could have reversed the Kentucky series scores.

Most of the teams we've played since then aren't helping the SOS. Same reason ULL is way down since that ranking even though 3 of their 4 losses were to Florida.

Wish we could have swapped Arkansas with Auburn that would have helped a lot.

You know, now that I'm thinking about it, they did continuously talk about UW playing 2/3rds of their games on the road and they win a lot on the road. That'll help the RPI.

Man i hope we can make a deep run in the sec tourney to move our rpi. If i am reading the rpi right and if they use that solely for seedings we would be 15 then wouldn't we be matched up with Michigan in the supers as they are 2 at the moment?

Yes.
Last year we got knocked down 3 spots from the RPI number because we came in slumping. Maybe we get the reverse this season.

Lots of great points by everyone except one person. Lots of objectivity and positivity. I'm enjoying reading the commentary in this thread overall.

At this point, we just need to make sure we move up and not see Florida or Michigan. Everyone else I do feel good about. Auburn is a scary team but when our pitching is on I feel like we match up well against them.

No, that isn't it at all. There is a huge log jam from spots 11-16 in the RPI. All of those teams keep winning, like Missouri, Kentucky, ULL, Tennessee, etc. It is hard to move up much, regardless of what you do.

On the other hand, Washington had the teams in front of them stumble. Washington might slide next week because they have a 3 game series with Stanford this weekend. Stanford has an RPI of 138.

They don't use RPI solely for seedings, but the softball committee is way more married to the RPI than other sports, like basketball or even baseball.

Someone said this earlier, and I believe it to be true....it will be a big crap-shoot from 9-16. Lots of teams in that area with very similar resumes. The game with A&M in the SECT is pretty big I think because they are coming up fast in the rear-view mirror, RPI wise. They are up to 17. I really don't see how the 10th place team in a conference can host a regional....but ya never know. I'd feel better about things if we could beat them tomorrow.
