Hoover will have to pitch games one and three of three game series. Everyone does it. The other 3 girls are not as good as her. Selman is really a middle of the week pitcher. Walljasper a slight edge over Corbello for the middle game. Come regionals, Hoover will be relied on in multiple games on back to back days.

I was just thinking at some point this 4-gal rotation will move to two. They can win it all with Walljasper and Hoover, but I'm a little uncertain adding the other two.

They look great in spurts, but when they're off, damn are they off

No. The whole point of using all 4 is to keep them fresh for the postseason. Increasing Hoover's innings now would be a stupid panic move. Corbello is out of that inning if the ump doesn't go to sleep.

She also had a rough relief stint at McNeese last week....walks too many and gives up gopher balls...can't have that in the regionals...recipe for disaster.

She has the same walk rate as Hoover and they've all given up 5 HRs.

Very high chance she or Selman starts game 1 of the regional.

No expert here and a Johnny Come Lately to softball but have followed this bunch all year and awfully proud of them.

Tonight, a couple of innings the ump screwed us over and allowed them extra batters which resulted in runs.

Had the ump been on his game Corbello gets out of the inning and we might still be playing or could have won it.

I'm still mad about that third strike call.

If this team doesn't compete for a championship, defense will be why. Some of the errors they make are just routine plays.

It's gonna be tough to win our last two series with the pitching we've been having. Selman and Corbello are going to have to step it up. We had a chance to take the SEC lead tonight and we blew it.

I haven't shite on any of the players. They are a great group of girls and I have said that all along. I just think the right players need to be in at the right time. And the time is for Hoover and Walljasper to carry the pitching load. That is all.

Wrong. It's Hoover and Walljasper from here on out. Corbello isn't good enough to take this team through a complete game and Sellman is still having trouble hitting her spots. Hoover is way too good to not be used more from here on out.

Hoover is the only pitcher we have who can actually take control of the game. Waljasper is still too streaky and Selman and Corbello are about as Jekyll/Hyde as they come. The girl who pitched for A&M tonight is the same one who we chased in game one. If Hoover is good to go in game 3, then why not give her the ball? We're not gonna beat Auburn's crazy good offense with Baylee or Kelsee in the circle.

I highly doubt Torina is going to trot Corbello or Selman out against Auburn. We've done a good job keep Hoover and Walljasper fresh for the postseason. We can ride with two when the playoffs start

tigerbait2010, I agree completely. LSU will have a national seed in all likelihood. Save their arms till the NCAAs and then throw Hoover and Walljasper.

This, except I think Sellman is a little better than Corbello and Corbello should be the mid-week starter

That isn't how softball works…"saving arms" isn't nearly as big of a deal as it is in baseball. The way Torina has used her pitchers this year has already served to "save their arms". None of the 4 pitchers have had an insane workload at all.
There is a kid at San Diego State who has thrown 245 innings. THAT is a lot.
Hoover has thrown 95 innings. Walljasper has thrown 86 innings. Them "wearing down" at the end of the season will absolutely NOT be a factor…in fact I think they should be what would be considered to be "well rested".

You're right. I can recall Arizona riding one blonde pitcher, and only her, all the way to a national title a few years ago. LSU could go with two pitchers from now until the final out in OKC and they would be fine.

how did Blue miss that strike three call?

I don't know how in the phuck he missed that call. It was just beneath her belt and over the plate.

And either the bad calls got to Corbello or she just wasn't feeling too well, but her poise was almost nonexistent. At times, it looked like she didn't want to be there.
