A couple of weeks ago I said it wouldn't surprise me if Auburn won the whole thing in Oklahoma City. They clearly reinforced that opinion this week. LSU, IMHO, has what it takes to get to the WCWS and despite yesterday's results compete with anyone there.

There will definitely be growing pains next year early. We will likely be relying on 3 or 4 true freshman early but these players definitely have the ability to step in and make an immediate impact.

Amanda Doyle is a top 20 player out in California. She has a monster bat. Will likely play 3B, replacing Bell

Nicky Dawson will likely be in the OF with Griggs and Landry. Her speed and power at the plate will make an immediate impact.

Michal Cunningham is an elite player. She plays catcher or anywhere on the infield. Her and Jaquish will get looks at catcher next year. Elite player.

Sydney Springfield plays 1B mainly. Power power power. She can knock a ball out at any moment. Very good player, considered a top 50 player by many softball recruiting analysts.

There definitely will be struggles at times but sometimes fresh blood can be good for a program. This class when its all said and done could be our best class in LSU softball history based off what they produce.

Next year is hard to imagine. We are already below average at 2B and DP and then the thought of losing 3 or our 4 best hitters is scary. Bell, Simmons and Kloss have been absolutely awesome in their careers and I can't see filing those spots with Freshman and being as good as we are this year or last year.

But....2016 is still rolling and we can win it all. Auburn got every imaginable break yesterday from our base running blunders in the first to the two out error that gave them a 4 spot. I'll take our team and our chances.

Griggs' spot will be up in the air. Average defensively and at the plate.
Quinn needs to get out of the infield, also. Serious defensive liability at 2nd.

That's where recruiting comes in.

Dawson CF
Landry RF
Jaquish C
Springfield 1B
Doyle 3B
Quinn DP
Serrett SS
Sanchez 2B
(competition/recruiting/transfer) LF

Seriously, the hate that Griggs gets on this board is crazy. Sure she can play better but damn its not for a lack of trying. (Sorry this wasn't directed to you saintsfan).

Definitely agree with this. Griggs is average and there are some Elite players coming in.

Trying only gets you so far when you have better players behind you.

It's not "hate". Just trying to get better. She gives maximum effort but is limited in what she can do and is not an elite player. Maybe she will get better? Certainly pulling for her...

The only problem is her dad and Dobson are big buds. So I really doubt she gets benched. Hopefully she can improve over the summer. She really tries hard. Lol

i guess hate was a strong word to use, it just seems like every thread becomes a griggs needs to be benched thread something along those lines. Also i'll be honest i'm a softball newbie so i'm still learning the ropes, so i'll leave who needs to be in the lineup up to the people with more knowledge than me. I'll just stick doing the game threads

It's just stupid. It's pretty obvious the slappers are down, not just Griggs. Her average is down like .40 points, Bailey's is down like .130 points(nobody ever complains about her though). Griggs is clearly better than every other OF on the roster and AJ's sister is the only other recruit coming in that'll play in the OF. Unless some All-American transfers in there's pretty much no way she's getting benched.

Not hating on Quinn but it is always "hold your breath" when any ground ball is hit to her. It is now the time of the year where pitching, defense and "timely" hitting = go home or go to Oklahoma City. She cost us 4 runs yesterday on a very routine ground ball and was very slow to cover 1B on a bunt down the first base line. I hope Sanchez comes around next year. We need a better glove at 2nd.
