So this big announcement of the anti-SEC alliance was a nothingburger?

Sounds like it.

"We're not signing any contracts, but are agreeing to work together. And maybe play each other in the future. And we care about student athletes. Oh yeah, and we won't poach each other's members, but really have nothing to say about realignment or expansion at this time."

Did I sum it up correctly?

Remember when they tried to shut down the season last year and ended up looking like big pussies?

I have a feeling this will stop or slow down the expansion of the playoff championship by showing solidarity among the other conferences. They don't want to see 4 or more SEC teams in the playoffs.

I think part of this was an attempt by the B1G and PAC-12 to try to be the big boys in college football...

think about it...who does the B1G have besides Ohio State?? maybe Penn State and occasionally Sparty...Michigan under Harbaugh seems to be a whole lot of going nowhere...

then the PAC-12? USC and Oregon...

They thought last year that they were going to set the example by cancelling football and it blew up in their faces...

AND how much of this is driven by the Rose Bowl? which is becoming increasingly irrelevant in the college football universe...

If we're going by recent success USC west is no better than USC east and we don't consider USCe to be anything more than a cupcake lol!

It is a gentlemen's agreement to form a solidified front against the SEC. Essentially a voting block so that they can prevent the SEC from completely dominating the direction of collegiate sports.

Fans of these conferences claim they’ll now vote together against anything the SEC wants.

Funny it is the commissioners talking. It is the individual schools, like Texas and Oklahoma, who make the decision to leave with little regards to their commissioners. This is why I believe no contract is in place. Schools don’t want to be constrained
