I think regardless of how it happened Beth was forced to hire a new coach and that has brought about some much needed passion around the program. I have seen this stated multiple times.

You do know that is because the SEC actually cares about softball now, right? In the early years no one but LSU and Alabama put any effort into fielding a competitive team. For all those pretty SEC records, those coaches didn’t have much to show for it in the NCAA tournament.
