I see a coach who has no interest in coaching particular players on the team.

Does missing kicks somehow make putting points on the board less important?

Yeah you misread the shite out of that. Would FGs have mattered vs Miss State, nope. Got blown the frick out. Would not have mattered if we made 5 FGs that game. Does 3 points matter in a football game? Yes they do matter. They matter early because you want to put points on the board and you want the offense to come away feeling positive. Especially when your team is playing competitive football. We arent losing all our games by 3 points though. We are missing kicks early and thats putting us in holes that shapes the rest of the games offensive decisions. Do you disagree with that?

3 of 7 is not dependable. In any other year, 3 for 7 kicking field goals and this board would be begging for a new kicker. But O might have hurt his feelings and people lose their mind and this turns into a 12 page thread, not because of what he said, but because they hate O. And thats my point. There are plenty of reasons to not want him to coach here at LSU. This is not one of them.

Stick with the main things if you dont want him here, so that more people will take the firing of O seriously. Im personally going to stick with his lack of team preparation, less film study, recruiting is terrible at this point (this could get better because recruiting is so fluid no one ever really knows), possibly that rumor of him backstabbing Miles and things like that. What he said about a kicker is minute at this point.

What's also troubling about the kicking thing is he isn't talking about coaching up the guys we have. The only solution he can think of is recruiting. But this is not the NFL. Maybe that helps for next year but we need the guys we have now to get better now. How is telling the world they suck gonna accomplish that?

What a terrible coach.

The big question to me is why dont we have a ST coach. I keep seeing that posted. I dont expect O to teach a kicker how to kick. His expertise is the D line.

I read an article last night that said teams like Bama and FSU have increased the number of coaches they have on staff. Why are we decreasing ours?

I didn't misread shite. You're here spewing bullshite about how "it's just kickers" and are now trying to point to one game to prove your point.

Would a confident and prepared kicker have made the difference in the 3 point loss to Troy?

So now fans saying a kicker sucks on a message board is the same thing as the coach telling the media, during a call in show, that all of his kickers suck?

Do you see the difference in those two situations?

It wasn't "a" kicker. It was every kicker on the roster.

If you're going to "Stick with the main things if you dont want him here, so that more people will take the firing of O seriously", at least get your fricking facts straight.

When I read this:

quote:

LSU (3-2, 0-1 SEC) heads to play No. 21 Florida (3-1, 3-0) on Saturday with its worst field goal kicking problem in more than a decade. The Tigers' two kickers, walk-on sophomore Jack Gonsoulin and redshirt freshman Connor Culp, are a combined 3-for-7 in field goals this season. That's the worst mark through seven attempts since 2003. LSU's field goal kicking has excelled over the last decade. Tigers kickers made their first seven attempts in each 2013, 2014 and 2015. The four misses through five games is as many as kicker Colby Delahoussaye missed all of last season (11 of 15).

And then I hear O say this:

quote:

We just don't have one right now. I wish we had one on our roster, but I'm about to go recruit one, and I'm going to get the best one in the country

Advocate

I dont have a huge problem with it.

After neglecting to fill the ST coordinator position you don't have a problem when Orgeron throws his specialists under the bus?

That's like saying, "Well, no I didn't put the car in park, but it's gravity and the roads fault that it rolled down that hill".

Yes. Did O say this before Troy? If so I would agree. But he said it afterwards. So this argument doenst make sense.

Yeah I get the difference. I was trying to put everyone in coach Os shoes.

Why does this matter? Honest question. Gamble wasnt recruited to kick FGs. Gosulin is sucking arse. If he is sucking, I can only assume Culp isnt doing that well in practice or he would be the ones kicking. Would you rather O call out Gosulin personally?

I'd rather a coach not blame his players when he doesn't even have a dedicated coach to teach them. If I had to choose though, I'd rather this than him destroy the confidence of every place kicker on the roster 5 games into the season.

Maybe you should stop telling us all we just hate Orgeron and are piling on for no reason then.

The concerns are legitimate, and shitting on the players just adds fuel to the fire.

It's not the message, it's the method.

Everybody with eyes knows that kicking is an issue.

As a head coach, blasting AND giving up on them simultaneously in a public forum is mind fricking boggling.

Fair enough. I just think all the other stuff is more important. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

5 games in to the season. If it was that big of an issue you'd think he would have addressed it during the summer.

It's only become a problem now that his team is getting it's arse kicked every weekend.

If we don't have a kicker, why haven't we attempted a fake FG ?
