but in years past that kid is a serviceable 2nd stringer at LSU!
wTH? As I stated before, he was a preseason all SEC pick last year before the injury. Second string? You're on crack. If Lawrence is out of shape by his own admission as well as the coaches. I trust Pete Jenkins more than your stupid arse..

Hi all.

First post (lurked for a while).

Anyways, I reckon we've looked alright the first two games. The penalties really need to be brought under control or it could end up being a problem. I'm also happy with the impact the freshmen on the defence are having early days.

I was a bit concerned with some of Etling's throws into mega coverage. But, as I said, early days. And with Key coming back, surely the D can only improve. It's already looking pretty good.

All in all, we got some stud RBs, Etling looks fine, the D is looking good. That's a nice platform to build on.

Nice to finally set up an account. Hope to get involved with the chatter.

I'm worried about State. We will have a much much better understanding of how good LSU actually is after this game.

I wouldn't say I'm worried about them, but we will know much more about our team after this game. Seems a lot of people are getting way too excited about these wins against crappy teams.
I'm still positive and thought LSU looked good.

OK! LaCouture is pretty good, and not just a "serviceable back up". However, he damn sure isn't an elite 4-3 DT or 3-4 DE, something that used to grow on trees at LSU from 2002 to about 2012.
IMO 2009 is the only year he would NOT have been a back up to these guys:
2002- Kenderick Allen(SR), Marcus Spears(So), Marquise Hill(So), Chad Lavalais(Jr)
2003-Marcus Spears(Jr), Marquis Hill(Jr), Chad Lavalais(Sr), Kyle Williams(So)
2004- Marcus Spears(Sr), Glenn Dorsey(Fr), Kyle Williams(Jr), Claude Wroten(Jr)
2005-Kyle Williams(Sr), Claude Wroten(Sr), Glenn Dorsey(So), Melvin Oliver(Sr)
2006-Glenn Dorsey(Jr), Tyson Jackson(So), Ricky Jean Francois(RSFr)
2007-Glenn Dorsey(Sr), Tyson Jackson(Jr), Ricky Jean Francois(So), Kirstan Pittman(Sr)
2008-Tyson Jackson(Sr), Ricky Jean Francois(Jr), Drake Nevis(So),
2009-Drake Nevis(Jr)
2010-Drake Nevis(Sr), Michael Brockers(RSFr), Bennie Logan(RSFr),
2011-Michael Brockers(So), Bennie Logan(So), Anthony Johnson(Fr)
2012-Bennie Logan(Sr), Anthony Johnson(So)

The starting d-line next week should be : key , lawerence , e. alexander, Chaison.

That's not even an option unless you're talking about our nickel, in which case substitute LaCouture for Alexander and you might have it right.

You're trying to put a 230 pound freshman in the role of a 300 pound DE. We would get steamrolled if we did that.

Any other suggestions? Trindon at DE?

our DBs will get torched by teams with a decent QB with an O-line who can pass protect.

You have no idea if this is the best team at state. Vegas doesn't think so.

If you are talking about the pass to Sullivan (6 foot 6).....that pass into triple coverage was intentional....remember all those passes to Julio jones and our db's had him covered....Julio won those battles because of his height and physicality....it didn't matter if he was covered....well think of Sullivan as our Julio...it was a test to see if he could do it....he passed with flying colors....these two games were glorified scrimmages (like a NFL preseason game).....of course they will look sloppy testing freshmen

The only things that were really alarming were the poor O line blocking (against a team that should have been waaay overmatched), the penalties and the field goal kicking.

Everything else looked pretty good especially for the 2nd game of the season. Will have to play better than that to beat Moo State.

Ha ha ha.

Looking forward to it. Being from Down Under, I may never get to Baton Rouge to watch a game, but I'm there in spirit!

The oline did not dominate like they should.
Why does that surprise you?

All but the most nutty Pump Lumps know we have an OL problem. (O even knows it)

A "Minimally Adequate" performance for the entire season is about all I expect and hope for because the talent is not there across the board.

Want to see how they look against a mid-level SEC team.

Not concerned at all about the rest of the squad. The talent is there everywhere else............

No, we have an OL DEPTH problem. Our starters I expect to be similar to last year. That's why it is important to remain healthy. A lot of casual fans hear that we have ol problems and think starters suck. That isn't the case.

I do agree we need to upgrade the talent there, but if we remain healthy we have enough to win with.

We have maybe one ALL SEC OL in our starting 5, Clapp and he's injury prone! Based on the defenses LSU has faced so far, Guice looked OK against them as compared to last year when he was running through gapping holes and juking LB's and safeties on his way to big runs. Right now, I'd say the OL appears to be a weak link. Hopefully this perception gets changed today against what appears to be a very good defense.
