that effected his kickoffs, or was that just a cover for his weakness?

Seems like they wanted to redshirt Hairston, but decided it wasn't worth it. Why didn't LSU just decide to do that originally?

No he's been practicing faking injuries for hurry up kick offs

If you watched the game, he got hurt on the botched extra point attempt. Also i think the freshmen just looked good to be honest.

If I'm not mistaken he has a slight MCL tear and that's why his kickoffs were lacking. Getting rolled on on the botched extra point didn't help it either.

I was impressed with Hairston. I don't mind seeing his redshirt burned, the way he kicked the ball last night. He even had a touchback

This. It didn't get a lot of attention, but this is the truth. It hasn't affected his FG kicking, but it did affect his kickoffs. The coaches had hoped it would be better by now and that is why they weren't kicking off with Hairston all along. However, it didn't heal as quickly as they had hoped.

Didn't they say it happened in the 3rd quarter of the Oregon game? If I'm not mistaken, the kickoffs prior to the 3rd quarter were just as bad

He had a problem that goes back to before the season...no link, but I remember hearing/reading that.

I'm not sure where to find the stats, ncaa stat database doesn't have them, but I would say that's about average since the rule was changed moving back to the 30. Certainly not "bad".
