Exactly right and the fact that he recognizes this says a lot. You know the basketball players in this state come from the same talent pool as the football players. We have great athletes even if they're not as polished as the ones from states with tons of prep schools. Wades style of pressure defense is something that's never been tried here and something that a lot of us die hard hoops fans have been begging for. He'll have us in the mix very soon.

LSU has never been a giant in basketball, and it is likely that it will never be a "giant". We can have good teams that do well in the SEC and get into the NCAA tournament, but we will never be some giant, and certainly not with Wade at the helm.

I hope I'm wrong about Wade, but in my opinion, he was not the right man for the job at this time.

Coming from the same guy who thinks Johnny Jones shouldn't have been fired.

Who would have been the better hire, in your opinion?

I would have given Coach Jones another year. The Ben Simmons fiasco, forced on Coach Jones, still affected the team this past season.

The state of kentucky has both uk and louisville. North carolina has duke, unc, and to a lesser extent nc state/wake forrest. I would argue the state of louisiana puts out more athletes than either of those states and we have no rival to slow us down. Not to mention houston around the corner. With the right coach and the right dedication to becoming elite it can happen at lsu. I think this guy is our best shot ever at that. Almost like saban was for football for us. If he can have 2 guys man the post defensively next season then i believe he has a shot at the ncaa. Big if.......i know.

Forced on coach jones? Lmfao lmfao lmfao!!!! You actually believe the number 1 player, the top prospect in the last 13 years, was forced on any coach much less the worst coach in the NCAA. Lmfao!!

Dude seriously what are you smoking? If you think JJ can do a better job at any aspect of basketball then your credibility is shot. So in light of your cred being nonexistent it looks like you will be completely wrong with who and what Wade could bring to LSU BB. Anyone can see LSU is most certainly a sleeping giant in pretty much all major sports even some minor sports. In the games that we didn't give in LSU played fairly well without a real plan or coaching. LSU went to a final 4 with athletes playing basketball not that long ago. Wade has the right stuff to build a very good team and even win a championship if the pieces fall. GT

Haven't heard anyone say this since saban said this when becoming our coach. Hope Will wade will wake up our giant in bball. Similar feel, thoughts?

Actually, Saban didn't say this. It was Bob Pruett, the coach at Marshall at the time who interviewed before Saban who said it.

Exactly right if this guy doesn't want Wade it's a sure sign that Wade is the right guy. Forget our past history, look at the players from Louisiana in the NBA it's amazing. Look at the players we've missed on since Brown retired, guys like Rashard Lewis, Greg Monroe, Chris Duhon, Danny Granger, Kelly Oubre, even guys like Rico Geathers, D.J Augustine, Martin Zeno and Derek Zimmerman were college stars. You start getting these guys and you bet your arse LSU is a sleeping giant. Imagine Rashard Lewis, Chris Duhon and Derek Zimmerman added to the 2000 team with Swift and comp. Imagine Martin Zeno on the final 4 team in 06. Greg Monroe with the 09 team or Kelly Oubre and big Rico Geathers with the M&M boys. Players like that could've possibly won championships here at LSU.

From this, it looks like we need to recruit Mississippi and Wade's stomping ground in Virginia/DC
