not to mention the clock starts as soon as the ball is spotted for play ...

you could have gotten a play off possibly, don't forget, jefferson was doing his "meerkat manor check with me" shite while the official was standing over the ball ..

eta: but, assuming there was enough time to get a quick snap off, it takes complete moronic buffoonery to think you can "clock" the ball with :01 left ..

Wake up cupcake and stay away from the submit button. Dead Ball 1 second on a stopped clock for a first down. Watch much football?

I was under the impression that the offense had to "come set" for at least one second before a legal snap could take place. Does anyone have any recollection of a team in a similar situation actually getting ANY play off in that situation?

The decision to let the clock run to 9 sec is the true game losing move by the coaching staff. (And of course not just banging it up the middle 3 plays in a row from FG range )

What if Tolliver had pretended to be hurt after he caught the ball? That would have given Les & Co. time to get the field goal team ready. Of course, he may not have realized how little time was left or that the FG unit wasn't ready.

Jacob Hester did this after his TD vs UF in 2007.

a lot of it depends on how much time is on the clock .. it there was technically :01.9 on it, yes you could have .. but there could have been :00.3 on it too and then there is just no way ... without the tenth of a second on the clock you just don't know ...
