Simple Fix: Harris needs to call his # on Read Option

My adrenaline was up after that finish last night so I rewatched a good bit of our offensive snaps. On the read option sets, the DE was clearly keying on LF every play yet Harris was still giving him the ball.

Now I don't know if that was by design or his call but he needs to run if the read determines he does.

Each time Harris kept the ball, big yards.

Yeah, but you could see that Harris realized it afterwards. I think he's going to get much better with it. Dude is ridiculous talented.

Yeah, I think if Harris keeps it a couple more times, we win going away. Probably 35-9 or so. He likely gets 20+ yds a run, keeping it on some of those LF runs for 3 or less in the 4th quarter.

I agree completely. Like our offense, he was very predictable.

Harris had like 55 yards on 4 keeps, definitely needs to keep it more.

He would be DEADLY in a pure spread option attack.

I suspect that it is by design that LF gets the ball even though technically it is a "read" play. They probably don't want Harris carrying the ball that often. However, you're right. He could keep the ball and pick up big chunks just about every time that play is run. Harris keeping it just a bit more would not only help LSU, but LF immensely.

I'm not sure if that was him or by design. Harris running reminds of Vince Young. He looks like he is jogging yet he runs away from people. He has good instincts and power as well which was evident on his 1st down scramble on a 3rd and long.

Saw this last night and thought the exact same thing. I think he's building confidence, but once it clicks, he's going to make this type of play much more effective.

He messed up the read 5 times or so. Some DEs are starting to take a little wider approach to confuse the qb and some bring a corner, which ruins the numbers game all together. He did ok with it, but he definitely made the wrong read a handful of times.

play should have kept being called until they stopped it. i dont get it.

even if you are worried about Harris getting hurt, put LF back there like you did at the goaline and see if it still works

The second half was pretty awful. I still can't wrap my head around it.

Based on comments today about opening it up, I don't think many realize just how green Harris is still. He looks so talented that you just want to go balls to the wall, but he is still new to the position. He's going to be very good.
