If Max hangs in what was a decent pocket and lays it in front of Bech what do you think the odds are that the trailing defender is able to make a Delpit Superman tackle short of the sticks?

I don’t think it’s happening.

It doesn't fricking matter. We lost.

And if we would've won, all the same dipshits that wanted to keep Miles after that AnM farewell game would be out in full force to defend Orgeron.

Our chance was on that other 3rd and 2 play to Bech when he was wide open and probably could have scored a TD, but Max sailed it pretty hard. I'm not sure why we didn't have shorter routes on that play, but regardless, that was one Max needed to hit.

99% of the night you are 100% spot on....on the play he is talking about though it seemed like the pocket was holding a bit....Max got happy feet and stepped right into the rush.

The play was designed to be a shallow cross. We completed it to Bech early in the game.
But on the play in question, Auburn had line backers up closer to the line of scrimmage so Bech adjusted and drifted behind them. Max wasn’t expecting Bech to be that deep. But Bech ran to open grass and Max still should have been able to hit him because he had so much room.

How about max just stay in bounds for the extra yard or two on those multiple third down scrambles?

Max is incredibly overrated by our fans but every time we face anyone with a pulse he struggles a lot because he doesn’t do a lot right. He locks onto 1 player pre play and just buys time until that guy gets open. Once Auburn figured this out and adjusted at halftime they sat 4 guys on crossing routes and Max couldn’t do anything. If they hadn’t tried that stupid onside kick we wouldn’t have scored a point in the second half.

My point is on that last play no one was sitting on anything. Bech had a smaller defender in a trail position; if he can catch in stride it’s physically very improbable that he could be stopped short.

Go back and watch on the replay after the turnover, Auburn had a LB sitting right in the middle waiting on Bech to cross as well as the trailer you mentioned. There was also a safety sitting in the middle just behind the LB because they know all he does is lock onto Boutte or Bech, whichever is running the shallow cross.

I wish we had the All22 but it really doesn’t look that way. There’s a spy who allows Bech to cross his face and a defender in trail. Everyone else appears to flow to the right.

I see the guy dropping deep middle but 80 he lets 80 pass him. There’s no one with an angle to stop him from getting the 1st.

TDP was wide-arse open in the flat on the right side. Like he could have caught it and run 20 yards before anyone touched him.

You’re just going to make an already horrible season so much worse for yourself if you start playing the what if game

Yea the spy in the middle is who I’m talking about and there’s another behind him. Same thing happened vs CMU, they rushed the RE straight up the field to stop him from bailing left and when he couldn’t just hit the cross quick he bailed right.

LINK

It’s better on the replay from the end zone view but you can see the spy and the DE rushing wide to keep Max from going left

I agree. Or at least dive for the extra yardage. With the rules to protect ball carriers now in effect, there is little chance he would get hurt.

Good thing LSU got rid of Miles and hired Ed O, right? At least that put an end to one-dimensional offense and winning seasons.
