Should Tiger Stadium have been torn down, not expanded?

Seems the age of 100k screaming fans in the seats has passed.
Should the expansion not been done in favor of a new smaller, high tech, all the bells and whistles stadium. Lots of suites, better food, bigger big screens and cell phone coverage.
