In fairness, Bayou Bengals is indeed one of our nicknames.

It is all about pace of the game. We dictated pace in the Kent St game from the first snap. We did exactly what we wanted to. We punted one time in the game. Each game is going to be different, and the quality of your opponent (and their preparation) may trigger in-game adjustments. It doesn't have much to do with the players that were in the game.
The bama v. aTm game broke down fairly quickly, and Bama was really the one who had to improvise, and adjusted well and won.

Without launching into a 3 paragraph essay, the easy answer is no.
ETA: What OceanMan just said.

First off, we already knew that A&M had a horrible defense. And we knew that Alabama was suspect on their lines. We didn't know that Alabama's defense is as bad as it is. LSU has a good offense too. And Our defense is much better than A&M's. After the way Alabama played this week end, their defense isn't going to scare to many teams either.

Honestly, I don't know how someone can examine the first two games and come to the conclusion that Alabama's defense is "bad." If Bama's defense had struggled against VT and then been decimated by TAMU, I might be prone to agree. However, their defense suffocated VT. In my view, it's much more likely that TAMU has very potent spread offense helmed by a dynamic mobile QB (a total douche - but the returning Heisman winner nonetheless) which is simply difficult to stymie.
Let's see how the TAMU offense and Bama defense fare against future opponents.

quote:This week and last week were tune-ups for the numerous freshmen and new players before we hit the SEC schedule. That was the secondary objective behind winning obviously. That objective was met to a large degree - would have liked to have seen AJ10 run the offense more than he did. Mett tried to spread the passes around some especially later in the game. You were essentially correct and add in the fact Miles usually calls the dogs off everyone quicker than his peers.
LSU scored essentially the same amount of points against a weak foe, Kent St.

When was the last time that Alabama gave up that many points and yards? How many points and yards did the Hogs put up on their other opponents. And yes I know Johnny football missed the first half of the first cup cake game.

I am not an American college football expert, but I told him that LSU didn't go first team all game,
should have stopped there...except for the fact that they scored most of their points in the second quarter.
and yes, the "big points" by bama/atm should worry you. of course, Bob Seger thinks "big points" are actually pretty cool and you don't have to be an "american football expert" to understand that dynamic.
