Should media refrain from tagging student-athletes in social media posts

Particularly when they are critical?
I'm pretty sure Jordan Romero feels bad enough about his performance without having to check his Twitter mentions seeing the media disparage him.
I'm not advocating they not be criticized and they should be able to handle it, but I think it's bullshite. It's one thing if a player goes and reads an article, that's their choice. But tagging him in social media where he has to read it is not right.
What do y'all think?

LSUs beat writers are absolute garbage anyways and everyone knows it.

Yeah tagging a kid in a negative post is just unnecessary. I get reporting the actual news but there's no need to throw it in a kid's face. Don't see anything wrong with tagging a player for something good though.
That being said I'm struggling to find some examples. Even certified shitlord Glenn Guilbeau doesn't do this.

College and high school kids? Absolutely.

Did a quick Twitter search and I'm assuming you were talking about Bryan Lazare from Tigerbait.
Agreed it was way unnecessary for a grown man & "professional" journalist to actually tag the player he's blasting on Twitter.
I'm with you. If he wants to criticize, fine. But don't tag the player.

Bryan Lazare

I did the same, and yeah that guy can suck on a bag of dicks, a-hole.

Bryan Lazare ?@bldore 2h2 hours ago Stolen base No. 6 for Tennessee against #LSU. That's why @romero_jordan is a liability at catcher. He is also 0-for-17.
so unnecessary. Good thing this hack is irrelevant.

Probably not the only time it's happened, but yes that's the particular post I'm referring to in this instance.

Yeah, definitely, but to be fair, it could be worse.
The HC could have directly blamed a loss on you to the media, so there's that.

that actually really pisses me off, an employer with any class would make sure players aren't tagged when its that negative. whata bitch

It seems like the perfect example of what not to do regarding live tweeting.

How is he even employed by LSU. He's a fricken idiot. Bregman blasting him was the greatest thing ever. People are going at him now on Twitter, must have seen this thread! TD ftw!

How is he even employed by anyone
He's a shite writer and obviously isn't afraid to openly disparage the players he's scoring.
