Coach Mainieri stated that if Alex Edwards did not improve that he would give another guy a shot at 1st base. Likely suspect would be Mike Lowery a Junior college transfer who bats from the left side and reminds many of Blake Dean. Grant Dozar also has some experience at 1st but has had little production on offense. Should Mainieri tinker with his line-up against Sacred Heart with Cal State Fullerton coming in this weekend?

Mainieri probably knows there's no one named "Edwards" on the team.

Ya'll know what hes talking about.

I've been a fan of Lowrey since day one... I love his swing. Edward has come along late, which I believe has solidified himself as the 1st baseman. But this is a mid-week game and Lowrey could offer us some great depth at 1st or any other position as he is a lefty.

i thought coach's comment about alex on sunday was a little harsh; he is doing fine; maybe lowery is better? i don't have a problem with it, but i don't think it should be like a punishment to alex which it might seem; i tell them i am going to start bringing lowery in after edward has two or three at bats to give him more at bats, not necessarily CSF or Fla. series though.

I have certainly not been impressed with Edward this year. I dont care what the stat sheet says. He has been pretty bad in the clutch. 3 maybe 4 times this year I watched him get the 2nd out for us this year with a runner on 3rd. On each attempt he either struck out or failed to get the ball anywhere near the outfield.

Not to mention some errors playing 1st.

Sounds like CPM is seeing simular things.

His bat isn't the problem. He has improved greatly since Wake Forest. He continues to hurt us on defense at the easiest position there is.

They're calling for benching a guy who has fewer errors than Nola, with more chances. No one's calling for benching Nola. Double standard.

naturally players on the left side of the INF will make the most errors on the team

1st baseman generally are the lowest in the INF.

for reference blake dean made 1 error all year in 61 games.

Edward is on pace to make double digit errors on the season (appox 12)

a.) Nola has a history greater than the first 12 games of this year and has shown to be excellent defensively. This should be obvious.

b.) First base is much easier to play than SS. This should also be obvious.
