It seems to me the few times this year he's lined up aside Mett in the backfield Shep is more comfortable than lining up as a receiver and having to run a route. Just an observation. Thoughts?

Less of a chance of getting blindsided...makes sense.

What is it that makes you think this? Did you talk to him about this?

I think he's equally comfortable lining up at either spot

maybe because he doesn't have to actually... you know... receive the ball by way of a pass.

I think he has made better plays lining up in the back field not that he is more comfortable either or....

No. I mentioned that it was just an observation. What I meant was he's struggled catching the ball as a wide receiver and it just seems to me when Mett is in the shotgun and Shep is set up along side him and has gotten the hand off, he's been able to get into space where he's most dangerous. A la his touchdown run last week.

he can be as comfortable as he wants anywhere, he's still the most overhyped player in the last decade. He's a borderline waste of a scholarship...and I'm only adding borderline because of his TD run last week lol.

It's just that he can be dangerous with the ball in his hands. As a receiver, he has to catch it first. When set up as a RB in the zone read for example, the QB just hands it to him and he can then try to make something happen. There's no pressure to have to catch the ball.

It wasn't that long ago, that he was being tried at RB.
Sorry folks, he has very little vision and goes down pretty easy. Sure he is fast and will break the long runs against weak teams, but he is not the percy harvin threat that so many people want to think he is.

I'm good with him coming in for some snaps every now and then, but he doesn't need to take many touches away from our talented RB's.

This.

Hes a good change of pace from time to time, but if he can't play wide out by now he should be on the bench most of the time.

agreed LSU coaches have underutilized him.
FRICK you can't tell me RS running wildcat 1/9 would have been worse than our offense. Hopefully he can score more TD's and get a shot at the combine.
