Seriously - what did you expect our record to be prior to the season?

If you expected double digit wins, CFP, SEC championship game etc etc etc, then you are one delusional positiger. This is a rebuiling year. Lost a lot of talent to the NFL, thin on both o-line and d-line. I will be shocked if we get 8 wins this year.

IMO, people are melting so hard not just because of the fact that we lost....it's HOW we lost.

Meh - modern schedules have a lot of wins baked in. Assuming we're just mediocre, we should eek by at 7-5 or 8-4 in the regular season and draw a beatable team in the bowl game.

I figured a 3 loss season, 2 being very optimistic about the new system.

I see us finishing 9-3. We'll win 2/3 vs AU/UF/Tenn.
I don't know how, but we will find a way.

You'll be shocked if LSU isn't any better than 7-5 (7-6 w/bowl) at the end of the year? That would be the worst record since Dinarado/Hall year. Y'all hated Miles so much that your willing to let O run us into the ground.

ETA: Rebuilding year? We have a 5th year senior QB, 2 - 1st team all Americans, 4 of the 5 Oline man are upperclassman, starting wideouts are seniors.

I'll never give anyone a pass for ruining LSU football.....no matter where they're from.

This is correct. I expected 9-3, 8-4. Possibility and 10-2 the ceiling. With that said I would have bet my yearly pay that state wouldn't beat us by 30. No excuse for that and it should alarm LSU fans.

Exactly this

If we had lost by 3 the melt wouldn't be near this bad.

After being swayed by the Give the man a chance campaign which I won't ever fall for that trap again, I said 9-3. After 37-7, I am going with 6-6, and this is not a troll.

I thought 10 or more would be a good to great season, 8 or less strike one against Orgeron, with the view of 9-3 depending on how we arrived there and how the season played out.

The only thing we were "rebuilding" was the coaching staff. And by that I mean our head coach and OC. The roster changes was a result of turnover like any other year. So if you can't expect 10+ wins because of a new head coach - a coach that has been with the program for years, then we got the wrong head coach.

I fooled myself to think 9-3 was possible but it's looking like 7-5 at best imo. I'm sensing a decade-long shite show.

8-4, young team, o-line is suspect and receivers can't catch! Still will be 8-4!

No one should ever EXPECT CFP or an SEC Championship. At LSU, we should expect to be in the hunt for the SECW yearly. That has been the expectation at LSU since the early 2000's, not living up to that is was got Miles fired, and it was what O was supposedly brought up to do. The goal post shifting needs to stop, right now.

That being said...this loss at State was historically bad. There is no spinning it. LSU got the doors blown off by a program they have literally owned for decades. The fact that LSU may not have realistically had a shot at the SEC this year should be no baring on whether they get mauled in Starkville.

No crystal ball and no way to know how things pan out from here...but what we saw on Saturday can't be brushed aside as some normal occurrence typical of whatever we want to consider a "rebuilding" year.

When you have Lawrence and Alexander hurt then no Herron, the middle of the defense is gone. LSU got crushed and it lead to long MsSt drives and no momentum for the offense in the 2nd half. It was only a 10 point game at half. Tigers got smashed 20 - 0 in the 2nd half.
Nothing is ever as bad as you think.

8-4

But didn't expect to lose by 30 to anyone, much less State.
Melt warranted.

The thing that concerns me is Coach O losing the team. He lost them in the 2nd half of the MSU game. They frick around and drop games to Florida, Auburn, Tennessee - look out. By that point, you're looking at a team that just flat out gave up and you're staring the first losing season in the eyes since 1999.
