Why do we go after Dual Threat QBs if we don't intend to run them? Not looking to bash anyone, it just doesn't make sense

So they can scramble long enough for LSUs unnecessarily long receiving routes to develop

I just think if he can run, let him run. Use his legs to open things up, maybe

We have a "pro-style offense" but recruit "dual threat" qb's...makes sense. I mean it's pretty obvious that we can't get a good enough ground game going with just RBs so might as well get a mobile QB to sneak in some read options.

Sole reason for losing. Can't run the I-formation with a QB that isn't a threat to pass. Harris is meant to be put in a spread offense, open the field up. Same problem Auburn has. They are trying to run the Spread with slow arse White. We basically need to trade Qb's with Auburn

I know most people are frustrated, I just didn't know why BH didn't run more.

Their aren't that many pro style QBs anywhere like there used to be. We recruit DT QBs because in our general recruiting region, that's what most high school run....yet we use them in an I formation. Brandon Harris was an outstanding QB in high school in a shotgun spread system. He's a great runner too. Makes no sense.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks for the info.

There are plenty of pocket passers out there. The fad right now is dual threat so that's where all the scouts focus on.

Edit: I'm not saying we shouldn't recruit dual threat QBs. I'm saying if you're going to recruit them, run the offense that they are built for.

Compared to the # of DT QBs, there are not that many in our general recruiting area. You be hard pressed to find a QB in a high school system nowadays that takes snaps under center. There's just not that many around - particularly in the South.

If they take snaps under center in La, they are not going to be a passing QB in college. That's pretty much fact.

Here's my serious guess:

Most coaches are very confident in their abilities to coach any player, which is warranted since they are the best at their industry.

I'd imagine the coaches see a great athlete that they "think" they can "teach the game" to. They are just so caught up in their own world and abilities that they don't see their own inability to successfully convert a QB that shouldn't be forced out of his skillset.

That's just my take
