This reminds me of the cars we use to have. Say you drive them a long distance at a high speed and basically no stopping, it really took something out of the engine .That engine was never the same. Hope this doesn't happen to her arm. That to me is a lot of punishment to the arm. Hope she is ok.

Walljasper threw 236 pitches in a 19-inning game in 2018 and was fine. She didn't pitch the next day, though.

In the old days, we used our #1 pitcher as much as we could. Softball doesn't create the strain on the shoulder as baseball, but the elbow and wrist can be vulnerable depending on the spin and snap of the pitch.
As we started getting a greater number of good pitchers, having a staff was a good thing. Berzon could definitely go again tomorrow, but I doubt Beth does that as she likes having a staff

Fast pitch is a much more natural motion than overhand baseball. I was a mens fast-pitch pitcher til age 40. Our team won state 4 times and won 5-state regionals twice to go to nationals. My last state tourney at age 40 I pitched 5 games one weekend, last one losing in 10 innings. Sure I was sore but only a couple of days later.
Point is, in fast pitch it is not close to being as taxing on the arm as baseball. If you have just two aces they can carry the team thru the WCWS.
Of course it would be much easier if the team scored in bunches. As a pitcher I can testify that the more tired I got, the more my pitches moved. Couldn’t throw harder to get SOs but it was hard to barrel up on me. It didn’t hurt that I had a fantastic defense behind me.

Longest game in tourney history record lasted for about 8 hours. Aub/UGA now in the 14th. Auburn just reached on a bunt for their first hit in 10 innings.
