It was the early game “targeting” call that did it in for me

Anyone see the targeting ejection in the Ohio state game??? Holy shite you can't teach a kid to tackle any better at that speed and they ejected him. It was a beautiful hit and should have been a recovered fumble.

Go back and watch the replay. Helmets never touched.

Sankey was working the replay booth.

Kid from BYU got ejected for targeting Guice who was a ball carrier. Learn the rule it's simple.

I have no clue what targeting is anymore.

Just looked it up. Targeting is any hit where the hit makes you say "ewwwwwwww".

The non holding calls as well

Every big run FL had to the outside was the result of a hold. I have no gifs or video evidence. Just watch the replay.

I agree. What is dbl standard is the SEC and Ncaa, you know the guy's with the big concern for the athletes? The same people who allow a high school player to siphon thousands of bucks from the university changing his mind as to whether he wants to play anywhere or have fun playing games. The same people(SEC and NCAA) who allow a kid to be taken off the field in humiliation just short of being handcuffed for assault after a targeting call.

What a bunch of slimy human beings.

The fact that the replay booth had to overturn the PI call, when the ball was tipped, trajectory completely changed and started TUMBLING END OVER END also deserves honorable mention, IMO.

Calls-

I thought the targeting was a good, clean, shoulder into the chest block on a guy not paying attention. That used to be good hardnosed football, but I do understand it's now taboo (and why I think Ronnie Lott would have been banned, instead of making the HOF, had he played today).

Mystified how a player can turn and throw a punch/slap in front of the ref, and it's "offsetting" penalties. Dude should have been ejected.

Out of bounds for 2-3 steps, not reviewed, that was also a bit hard to swallow. It was pretty obvious, too.

Those plays were so blatant that Gary was even calling them out

Agree with all of the criticism of the refs. They were absolutely pathetic. In a nutshell, Florida and their yellow-toothed jackass coach "DESERVED TO LOSE." LMAO

One play Guice got smacked pretty hard helmet to helmet, no call. Which I would not have called normally but when you set the tone like the refs did on the one against us, call all of them.

Absolutely. That was targeting. Etling got nailed in the head as well by a 2nd defender on one of the runs. What I find is that they call targeting on plays when the hit is more isolated and impressive looking, but they miss the ones that happen on routine-looking plays.

As you said the hit was not helmet contact. It was shoulder to shoulder but the defenseless clause comes in on this play because he blindsided him. Replay is also instructed to err on side of targeting if questionable...

Stanky should fire that ref crew or resign as Commissioner ...... that was the most glaring set of errors I've ever seen especially the 4 step out of bounds play

Hope we get the names so LSU can file a complaint and never see those homers again
or I suggest a LSU alumni step on his head 4 times with full cleats so he will get the message

The play when he stepped out 4 times was along the Florida sideline. Probably didn't show replays on stadium big screen. Quick snap followed.

Players tackling the ball carrier get flagged for targeting the most. You don't have to be defenseless. That's just WRs it seems.

I thought targeting was leading with the crown of your helmet. The block Dillon made happens all the time with WR blocking down field. Also in punt returns. Just because their helmets touch doesn't mean it's targeting. He led with his shoulder, and it was obvious.

On the 4 step out of bounds play. TV announcers showed the replay twice before the next play, booth had plenty of time to halt play and take a look at it. Egregious miscue by the refs.

A win with bad refs, I'll take it. Karma deposit. Can't wait to get mad at refs in the bama game, that never happens.
