It really is bad. All in the name to preserve the gump/vols game. I didn't mind the permanent cross conference opponent, back when the league was 12 teams. But this nonsense of only seeing a team from the other side of the conference once every 50 years is silly. Especially since they are only doing this to keep in place rivalry games that no one, except the ones playing, cares about.

I agree. Minnesota and Michigan do not play for the Little Brown Jug every year and that is considered the oldest trophy rivalry game in the history of college football. In fact Alabama-Tennessee isn't that big of a rivalry game in the grand scheme of things anyways. It's the SEC version of the Old Brass Spittoon which is the game between Michigan State and Indiana where they play for the Old Brass Spittoon.

Tennessee is getting better, if the Vols start winning a few then the FSIO will go the way of the dodo. They still wont go to a rotation system, just that the REC will have to find another sorry team from the east for the Gumps to play. UK anyone??

Not if there is a permanent cross division rival still in place "which that would be the plan." They have to do away with cross division rivals it gives an unfair advantage to some teams and disadvantage to other it is truly that plain and simple. So in today's politically correct world we live in "which I hate" how is that right. Give a disadvantage to another team just for traditions!!! Nope, if the they take down the statues in New Orleans that were heritage and tradition then they can do away with permanent cross division rivals!!!
