Lsu had an all time great season with a terrible qb situation all year. That's pretty impressive coaching. The title game was bad obviously but the main problem there was the poor o line play.

Would've been far better off sticking with Lee and losing the first Bama game. Think we would've got the rematch?

LSU maybe gets a rematch. Maybe. Only bc LSU's schedule was so impressive and the loss would've been on the road. But LSU with Bama's resume? No way is there a rematch. Would've been like 2006 Michigan.

Les' big mistake was letting Jefferson back on the team. Should've just rolled with Lee. We would've maybe lost the bama game, but that's it.

the most telling thing in all of this that in the history of college football 2011 was the greatest season ever.

and that team didn't even win the NC.

the article isn't about the greatest regular season ever. it's the whole thing.

So we would've lost to bama twice and not been sec champions??

Beat the BCS National Champion on the road
Beat the BCS Rose Bowl and Pac-12 Champion at a neutral site
Beat the BCS Orange Bowl and Big East Champion on the road
Beat the Cotton Bowl Champion at home
Won the SEC Title
Won 13 games

And on top of all this, had Ok State not slipped up against ISU we likely beat the Big 12 champion for the NC. Unbelievable resume that I just don't see being matched

I'd argue missing out on that would have been a lot better for the fans and program than getting skullfricked on a national stage by our rival.

yeah...who wants another SEC Championship and BCSCG appearance. people need to learn to move on and stop being such pussies.

and i don't understand what makes you think losing to bama in the first game would've been better for the program

Losing a closer game on their home field is better than being bitch slapped in our own backyard on a national stage.

That's genuinely sad. It reminds me of a hilarious Air Force commercial I used to see on afn. It showed a basketball game where shorter players went up against taller better players and got creamed. The message at the end was to remember to "stay within your ability." It showed a sad and pathetic defeatist mentality. I understand what they were trying to say (don't do stupid stuff in the field you weren't trained to do), but the way it was presented was too funny.

Fiutak wrote in his Cavalcade the week after: had LSU not gotten shut out and embarrassed, you'd have had a lot of voters casting ballots for them as #1. Sort of buyers remorse for allowing themselves to get duped by the likes of ESPN into giving Bama another shot.

Yeah, and if the name on those jerseys lacked the word "State" and the colors were crimson and cream...that missed field goal wouldn't have mattered at all.

Remains the biggest travesty in BCS history. The one time that the media, and more accurately - a small faction of "Human Poll Voters and Coaches" decided for themselves who would be in the NCG - by voting Oklahoma State """" FIFTH OR SIXTH """"
Had they voted OSU 2nd or 3rd, like the other voters - Alabama would not have been in the NC game.
That, plus Saban influencing the voting by lobbying for bama at the SECCG (why was Gundy not allowed to lobby for OSU?) was digusting.

There was no precedent for a do-over. Michigan was not given a do-over vs Ohio State in Jan. of 2007.
All OSU had to do was beat former Oklahoma in the big 10 CG, which they did - by FOUR TOUCHDOWNS, and they would have been number 2 - ACCORDING TO THE POINT CALCULATION SYSTEM OF THE BCS.

But no, the 3rd place team in the SEC (behind LSU and Georgia), who lost at home, was given a do-over.

Amazing.
