Dude must have been a straight baller. I never saw him pitch, but guy owns all the important records, wins, strikeouts. How good was he?

Not the best stuff, but very smart, consistent, good pitcher. Pitched a lot of innings and had lots of run support.

I'm too freaking old... this wasn't all that long ago... yes. He was very good. Inning eater his last 2 years. Schultz did play 4 years.

He was a good college pitcher with a big curveball. The career records have more to do with playing four years than where he would actually rank on the list of our best pitchers.

Solid point there, I wasn't that young for the teams he was on, just don't remember him.

IMO, the best breaking pitch we've seen come through here.

He was awesome. He had a rubber arm and Skip would start him and use him in relief. I'll never forget the Regional final in 1994 and Skip brought him in to get the last out. That was the game that Jacques Jones, who had maybe 2 or 3 HRs the whole season, hit 3 or 4. That is up there with the best games I've ever attended at The Box.

That was a pretty loaded USC team. Three future major leaguers with Jones, Jenkins, and Boone.

Yes, they were a great team. What a great game it was. The 1B was the guy that made the last out. His mother was sitting right behind me and was getting into it with some LSU fans. It was sweet! Hot AF too.

Best pitcher I ever watched, hardly hear about him. He wasn't loud, when he was on the mound you were getting a W. Work horse blue collar type of pitcher. Think he was from Virginia.

The list of great dominating pitchers that have come through the LSU pipeline since 1986 is mind blowing.

Scott Schultz, Ben McDonald, Lane Mestapuy , Brett Laxton, Paul Byrd, Aaron Nola, Louis Coleman, Alex Lange, Jared Poche, Rick Greene, Kevin Gausman, Kurt McCune, Patrick Coogan, Eddie Yarnall , Hunter Gomez, Doug Thompson, Kevin Shipp.

Not fair.

E.g., That famous grand slam from Todd Walker that sealed a comeback win over A&M in the 1993 CWS would not have been possible without Schultz coming in to slam the door.
