I know I'll get downvoted to oblivion for this, but this is a tougher weekend than most expect. Yes, Tennessee is terrible but in all honesty that doesn't mean a damn thing right now. Teams who fire their head coaches in the middle of a season are scary. We certainly were last year. We better show up ready to play and not just coast on talent and expect to win this weekend. Tennessee's season is over and they know that. They are 2 wins away from bowl eligibility and don't have any SEC wins. As an old coach of mine used to say, they are looking to be a tird in someone's punch bowl. Hopefully the Tigers show up to play and whip up on rocky top like we should.

I think every coach’s goal is to coast on talent and not have his team ready to play.

I hear the freezing rain will shut down Canada's offense.

I am 100% confident there is not a single LSU player who is scared.

yeah Florida is so scary right now. You're thinking too much into this. LSU is going to win this with ease

Why is it still defined "middle of the season" when you only have 2 games left to go?

I never meant the players were scared, or that the coaches intended to coast on talent alone. This was intended more for the fans who tend to have over confidence. All I'm saying is as fans this is a scary weekend because teams in this situation are scary to play. Their fans will be excited because Butch is gone. Their players will be juiced to make a statement. You could tell they had quit on Butch. If we let them hang around it could be trouble is basically all I'm saying.

The difference was that last year, LSU actually had a lot of talent and was relatively injury free. Tennessee is a battered and bruised team with not a ton of talent playing right now.

Last year, LSU pulled the trigger in time to salvage their season. The best Tennessee can do is go 6-6 and end up in a crappy bowl game.

that's not what the OP meant. Of course coaches try to motivate their teams and not let them overlook any opponent. But it's just human nature sometimes for players to not be as "up" for some games as others. We see it all the time.

And the OP was saying that this could be a danger game because we're on the road and we know Tenn is horrible, so it's possible our players think they'll got this one locked up. Plus, we have no real history with Tenn, like we do with Arky and A&M.

And we never quite know how Tenn players will react to Butch's firing. Sometimes it's a relief and they play better (ring a bell?).

Of course we should stomp Tenn, but there are some factors involved that might have an influence of our guys' intensity and focus. And that's what the OP meant.

I agree with some of these statements. I do not expect a blowout this weekend, just a simple 21-10 win.

Get out of that shithole without sustaining any injuries and get ready for the Aggies.

Na.

Very few stats on cfb wins vs. losses after firing a coach but in all major sports, firing your coach midseason makes little difference. The team just is what it is at this point.

There's no way Brady Hoke gets Tenn up enough to beat LSU, if LSU plays the way they can play.

This game will be about how lsu plays.

Alabama and Florida werent that scared.

We should beat Tenn by 17. They literally have NO defense, no matter the new head man or not. They either go get a DL from the Titans or they get beat.

Very different situations. Last year our team had championship caliber talent. This Tennessee team is doo doo.

Doubt we will lose, but I wouldn't mind it either way. We have nothing to play for, and honestly seeing this board implode over a loss to Brady Hoke would be quite the treat

If the team comes out flat, then coach Baw Baw should start to get the credit he deserves...
