Pretty good interview yesterday in Houston:

Find it very interesting he didn't have a favorite football player growing up. Knew he was a big basketball guy, any chance he grew up not watching football?

yes, dude isn't a bad guy, but he's always seemed like a very clueless person in general

Too many secret Bama fans in the LSU fanbase.

Bear is more of a southern concept. His record transcends the game. But asking everybody to be a historian and a student of the game is asinine.

Woody and Bo are more of mid-western equivalents. Of course, there will be similar guys on the west coast and along the Atlantic.

We know Bear because we perpetuate the tall tales. Not many would know how many MNCs Yale claims (24) let alone that NCAA lists them as champs in 17 years. Their record is less important than knowing that Montgomery Burns visits the annual Yale-Harvard rivalry game ;).

We know Daddy Dale, Cholly Mac. We know Rupp more than Wooden. Most do not know Naismith. None of it makes one a lesser (basketball) player.

What would pissed me off was JJ not knowing who Thomas Jefferson was? If he didn't know who Pat Dye was, I couldn't care less. Similar rule applies to Sam. You value system for judging someone should not be based on what you know. If Sam can do his job well, he's good in my book.

Not surprised he doesn't know a lot of past football greats. He didn't even play football until his jr. year of high school. He was a basketball guy.

Sam should do fine in HTown. Lot of LSU fans here pulling for him.

bama fans were sooooooo mad. A few on the SECr tried to say bear is more famous nationally than like JFK and shite like that. It shatters their ego when someone doesn't bow down to bear, but to not even know who he is was just a gut punch to them
