Because he knew then every team had his advantage now, he can’t be a fricking dick head to players anymore cause they will just hop in the portal and get paid somewhere else.

Some teams have down years.

It’s early for Bama to play a team like UT. We got worked by FSU. It is what it is when you have a liability at QB and the other team doesn’t.

It’s also early for UT to travel to Bama & play. They did it. That logic makes no sense.

Bama has had 6 in a row if you don’t count their Champendemic. Saban is finished. That’s been obvious for a while. The only things that kept them relevant were two wizards at QB, and they still couldn’t win a championship.

Screw Saban. Cannot stand his constant whining every single season about something different. And I can't stand he defended his WR for hitting that woman.

Yeah Saban turned into a complete whiny arse bitch in his twilight. He should have hung it up after they won the fake Covid title and went out a champion. But stubborn arse people like him are never satisfied he will go out like Bowden

Yep last year after they lost to Tennessee some of the SEC media types were saying it’s the end of the beginning but not the beginning of the end, they were wrong. Usually it starts before you see it. In last 6 games vs former assistants he is 2-4 (jimbo 1&1, Sark 1&1, Kirby 0-2). tDecline is here. The question is how quickly will they move to fix it.

Down years compared to their juggernaut years, but not objectively down years.

Yep.

NIL made legal for everyone else what Bama had been doing for years.

Who is the "they" you are talking about. And what do you mean by "move to fix it?"

Yep, a big part of Saban’s strategy is to have a monopoly on talent. The rise of Georgia was the first blow to that strategy. The transfer policy change was probably the next biggest problem for him. Not sure how much of a difference NIL makes. I’m assuming everyone including Alabama has been paying their players for decades.

Alabama Athletic Director and Major Boosters. It will be a complicated decision making process that will be interesting to watch. Pull the trigger soon or ride it out a bit more to know you have a better option available. What is the succession plan? I don’t think Dabo is in pole position given his recent performance. Sark just got to Texas and needs to do more long term. Kiffin? Or try and pull an offensive name from NFL?

You won't see a coach who's in his prime go there.

Can you imagine that fanbase the first losing season, even failing to make the playoffs a few years in a row under the new coach? F that

exactly. I’ve said for a while now I feel sorry for whatever poor dumb bastard follows Saban. No matter what they do the shadow will always be compared to them. They are doomed. It’s the second coach who may stand a shot at a fair shake.

Honestly, it looks like he has lost his fire. There were a few plays last night I was shocked when they showed him and thought, “damn old Saban would have been in somebody’s ear there.” He just sat watched and took every mistake.

If not for the greatest QB in Bama history bailing their asses out the past two seasons Bama would have had 4-5 loss seasons each of those seasons…the decline is real…

There’s a lot of truth in this post. I said it on this board and the SEC board for years. CNS recruited with the same mentality as Bear Bryant. If he gets a kid to sign from LOUISIANA and ends up burying him on the depth chart, he will never have to play against the kid or get beat by him. He has had 4-5 Louisiana kids make significant impacts, but has buried far more. The portal prevents him from doing so. Same things kids he recruits from Texas or even Alabama
