I think you are probably agreeing with my point but Tell me which LSU player you would have taken over the Mich St player?

Derrick Mason-Shedrick Wilson
Mushin Muhammed-Eddie Kennison
Tony Banks-Herb Tyler

Below average poster!
Saban took over a Michigan State program on probation and built them into a power. Unfortunately the guy who succeeded him, kinda like Miles, brought it back down.
He built this program, left Miles a National Championship team and Miles maintained the level of talent. Unfortunately Miles Coaching didn't equal his recruiting talent.

There are plenty other examples to use. This one is faulty. Guys were playing on a Monday night on fumes after Katrina chaos. They were gassed in second half. That season may have been Miles best. Won the West after that disaster. Kept team together. Played like 10 weeks straight after losing bye week.

Miles still is an average coach. The talent at his disposal has given this man more appreciation then is deservered.

This is not true. Lsu offered to make Saban the 3rd highest paid coach in the land at the time and Mich St did not counter offer.

"Another coach absolutely can succeed.

But we can also go the route of USC . . . "

**********************************************

Last time I checked, LSU wasn't on NCAA probation with only an average of 16 scholarships to be afforded each year over the next four years.

LSU's hiring history definitely suggests that they're going to buy low, looking for an undervalued asset.

So that absolutely rules out the Jimbo/Chip talk, not that they were realistic options anyway.

The Stakes have changed. The potential of enhancing this recruiting class has to be the desire of the money providers. The money says one doesn't buy out $15,000,000 over eight years only to apply a paltry portion of that amount yearly for a replacement. Look for a salary north of $5,000,000 and perhaps even close to Saban's to make any move worth while financially.

I believe Saban had a record of 42-42 when we hired him. The definition of mediocrity

And multiple NFL teams tried to hire him as their head coach while he was at Michigan State

That is the definition of a mediocre college football head coach

Jesus, dude. I want Miles gone as much as anyone, but THAT was easily the most forgivable loss in the Les Miles era. The fact that he gets NO credit for winning the west that year with only 1 loss is really an indictment of the average LSU fan.

Yes, it's time for both the school and coach to move on, but damn, that Tennessee loss doesn't even make the list of reasons why.

I said as much. Throw Dinardo in there as well. That was pre BCS NC. 10 wins was a big thing back then.

The lost to Tenn was just a warning and sign of things to come. EXAM get a lead and sit on it.nothing more or nothing less was meant

I'd really like to use some alternate universe machine and see what Miles record would have been had he stayed at Okie St or gone to some other school, because I'm convinced it would not be nearly as good as it has been at LSU. LSU made Miles as much as he made it.

Then what happened to Archer, Hallman, Dinardo? Why weren't they successful at LSU if it's so easy? Because it's not

I wouldnt say Saban built Mich St into a power. 34-24-1 and 0-3 in bottom rung bowl games and no conference championships. They were ranked #9 in the country when he left in his 5th year but that was the first good year he had there. Once he got to LSU he won a conference championship in his second year then another one plus a national championship in his fourth year.

Hallman ,Archer, Dinardo would have been every bit as successful as Miles following Satan. Matter of Fact Archer went 10-1-1 in a season when he had talent, imagine him having talent like Miles every year.
