He's just hoping for a shot on a team. Them telling him they wanted to sign him as an UFA would be great news for him.

If they told him he was impressive and moved up their board that would be great news for him.

Whatever shot Shep has at the NFL it will be because of his versatility. I've seen where some teams want to evaluate him at CB, WR, and special teams.

No but seriously, the Saints have too many needs to take RS in the draft in any round.

RS will be picked up as a free agent after the draft and SP will groom him into the QB he was supposed to be at LSU and beyond.

Wrong! If not drafted, a UFA contract won't be an issue. UFA is worst case scenario for him and I'm sure the Saints insinuated more serious interest for him to tweet that.

as much as I'd love to see him stay in Louisiana and play for the Saints...the WhoDats would do much better drafting a Tiger from the defensive side of the ball...Minter, Montgomery, Mingo, Simon, Mathieu, Logan. Those guys.

You know these guys are almost all top 3 rounders? RS is 6-7th.

Really good special teams players don't come a dime a dozen. Unfortunately that doesn't apply to Russell Shepard.

I get so weary of hearing the Shep supporters tout his chances of making it in the NFL. He simply is not an elite football player. 4.5 forty time isn't blazing, bad hands, goes down at first contact, and has no ability to make players miss. What NFL wants that?

He had 4 years to show what he could do and, I'm sorry, but it's just not there. Let's just be honest and realize that sometimes 5* recruits are a bust. He seems like a good kid and I do wish him the best, but please stop with saying this kid has NFL talent.

Special team players come a dime a dozen in the NFL. The only way you can stick around on a team by just playing special teams is if you are the PR or KR. He definitely can't be a PR because he can't catch. I doubt he is a difference maker in the KR game because he only returned 2 kicks his entire college career

But they have to to fuel their hatred for Miles. If Shepard makes an NFL roster, the first time he makes a catch, this board will fill up with "Miles is the worst coach ever" threads.

He won't be drafted in any round. As others have said this will be a FA tryout .

I hope he catches on somewhere, but I think it is a long shot.

Must be a free walk-on to join their practice squad. jk

maybe they'll sign him as a free agent if no one takes him.

Add that to his cone drills and he really quick which is what you need as a returner and a Sproles like player. Didnt Sproles run a 4.5?
