Running to the short side of the field?

WHY do Miles and Crowton insist on running to the short side of the field?
They use the speed of T Holliday, K Williams, and R Shepard to the short side of the field way too often. It makes no sense. Anyone have a good reason?
Also, JJ needs to learn to run the option better. He always pitches the ball to late or behind the running back.
