Ran into Pistol Pete in one of the stairwells of the old Gym Armory right before practice time - we struck up a conversation and shot a few baskets before practice. Never will forget that!!

kendall cleveland- reffed our flag football games. playfully jawed with him on a PI call. "I have a right to the ball, 32!"

tommy banks/karnell hatcher- showed up at our tailgates on separate occasions.

Shaq- rode an elevator with him at LSU basketball camp. too pussy to say anything other than hey ( i was 11 i think). he said "sup" back and that was it.

tj pugh- crossed me up on a fast break at the rec center. no bother, i'm a post player

adam walton- yeah i know i shouldn't even count it, but guarded him at the rec, dude got nothing on me.

harold boudreaux- at least i think it was harold, when i wa at LSU basketball camp, totally posterized me, i came over to weak side help and the lob was already in the air...from the sonuvabitch TJ Pugh i was like 14 or 15 that time i think.

Chad Ogea- we lived in his apartment after him i think. we kept getting his mail "Chad Ogea, you're pre approved for a loan". yeah no shite.

1968-1970 I sat on the bench as a Boy Scout and worked the telephones (when they rang from the coaches box - I went get the player they wanted).

1973 worked the summer at the LA School Book Depository with Joe Fakier, L Rand Dennis, and Russell Heald. They'd take me to The Brass Rail for quarter Turkey Shots (hey; I was 17, 5'4" and weighed about 98 lbs) on Friday's after work. I was like a mascot or something.... Had a blast!

1983 Umpiring a High School football game and I ejected Brian Kinchen for punching an opposing player in a pile-up after a tackle. Then I ejected Brad Banta for getting in my face and yelling at me, "You can't throw him out! Do YOU KNOW WHO HE IS?"

Then there was the time I went into Broussard Hall to get my sister and her girlfriend out of there....

Remember shopping for back to school clothes with my mom at Maison Blanche at Cortana and Eric Andolsek and what looked to be the entire LSU offensive line were also in there. I remember how big that guy was, a shame he was taken from us too early.

Had a history of American Journalism class with Shaq. He used to sit in the front of the class with his headphones on jamming to music. When it came time for tests he would come sit in the back and try and score notes from people in the class, there was this one blonde girl about 4'10" he used to get them from and I remember he asked me to pass a note to her, I felt like I was back in 8th grade. He did autograph a basketball for me though a couple days before he turned pro.

Just a few years back here in Houston I saw Mike Fontenot and his family eating at the Park Shops downtown before a series between the Cubs and Astros.

I'm sure I've had some other LSU athlete experiences in my day, just getting too old to remember them all!!

Had a summer school class with Trindon Holliday, Marlon Favorite and Darry Beckwith.
Trindon didn't show up for the first few classes because he was trying out for the Olympic team.

Somehow Big Fav talked the teacher into buying and bringing McDonalds breakfast for the class.

I'll never forget walking through the quad on my first day at LSU and hearing some girl scream to Early Doucet, "Hey Earl... ". His response was a head nod, hahaha.

End of freshman year I was in the TigerMart with a friend who was getting rid of some paw points. Big Baby walked in and asked, "Are yall getting rid of paw points?" She told him yeah and asked if he wanted something. He was so thankful! lol

Also had a class with Josh Jasper and Leon Landry. Leon was the coolest guy and Josh was the biggest douche. Dude walked in like he was the coolest kid on campus.

Played high school football against Will Arnold and Stevan Ridley. Ridley was a beast even as a freshman and almost impossible to block. Arnold was like going against a brick wall (even though I was about half his size).

We used to run over Trinity Episcopal Day School where Ridley went to HS. They were known as the laughing stock of our conference and we hated the kids there (snobby rich kids with little to no athletic talent)

It's funny how they started recruiting. I guess they had to

Played youth basketball against Todd and Trey McClure (two stand-up guys).

During one of the final games of his youth basketball career, Trey got a technical foul for an illegal monster Shaq dunk on one of the 8.5-foot goals.

I went with Tack Minor and Tim Bush to bogies a few times. We took improv acting together. LSU electives were awesome. Tim had a fine as white chick, and her friends were not into me at all.

Not really a LSU player but a could have been LSU player

My little league team, probably 9-10 yrs old was comprised of kids around broadmoor.

Our coach was a friend of Billy Cannon Jr. BCJ was a broadmoor high student at the time.

He came to practice one day and we had a kid that threw smoke. That was his nickname, smoke. So the coach ( who was young an reckless fwiw) egged BCJ on and on that this 10 yr old could throw the ball by him. BCJ had enough, stepped into the box, smoke unleashes his best fastball an BCJ proceeded to knock that fricking thing 500 feet. 3-4 of us go chasing it and wen we finally get to it he had hit it so hard that he warped the frickin ball. It wasnt round anymore it was more oblong

I shite you not, have never ever forgotten that, can see it in my mind like it was yesterday

I took Dr. Moore's African American History class, and all the football / basketball players at that time were in there. It was really fun to be in. I sat with LaRon, J. Daniels, and Early. They would roast whoever came in late. Justin Vincent told Dr. Moore "there's no such thing as a thug in college. They had to qualify, and thugs don't take the ACT."
