They're not any bigger than half of the teams in the SEC. LSU's speed in the front seven is something that Wisconsin has been unable to duplicate in practice so they will have their hands full coping with it.

Going by pedigree I think a pretty strong case can be made that being a good O lineman is about a hell of a lot more than athelticism...and stars coming out of high school. The UW O line has proved that time and again. Travis Frederick was a 3 star, for example..and Gabe Carimi was a 3 star, so was Ryan Groy. All guys who became good enough at the position to be playing on Sundays.

Just stop.
Their OL is good every year with the same kind/level of player. Cornfed, mean, smart, tough white guys that are extremely disciplined. They are routinely one of the best OL units in the country.
LSU rightfully claims DB U, Wisconsin can probably claim OL U as much as anyone.

Anyone who thinks that a good o lineman is just big and athletic doesn't know what they're talking about. And I'm not conceding our O-lineman aren't athletic, because they are.

I'll buy it. Recruiting rankings tend to overrate athletic ability over smarts, so it probably does underrate their guys. They do have that NFL pedigree.

Size, athleticism and technique. . The article hung its hat on UW's size and discipline on preparation. Size is what people are responding to, which is why I drew the comparison. I can't wait. The game will hinge on the lines and their conditioning and depth.

What makes you say that exactly?
A lot of UW's schemes require the guards to pull and you absolutely need to be athletic and quick to do that well. And they do it well.

So how do they manage to put so many of them in the NFL? I'm a little stunned at how flippant people are about the Badgers' actual strengths primarily b/c they're Big 10.
A few year ago, I wouldn't have cared about this line. This year, it worries me.

melvin gordon and james white both went over 100 yards rushing vs Cocks. Wisc had 293 rushing on them. I wonder how many teams had two runners go over 100 yards in one game vs cocks since spurrier has been there...

this guy is right. not like the scout team D at Wisc has a guy like Hunter…if we did, he'd be starting on the D-line for us.
much more worried about pass blocking LSU's D line than run blocking them. our LT is very athletic and held up pretty good vs Clowney. our RT is enormous with huge wingspan but he's a guy that can get speed rushed on

They are big and well coached. Without a doubt, one of the main reasons those running backs get such huge numbers. They would have man handled that patchwork defensive line that beat our offensive line last year. Here is hoping that Grimes has worked his magic.
