Aranda presents a real opportunity for playing time for guys like Herron and Gilmore. They should get more reps in the new scheme and the new guys will add quality depth. Orgeron Benefits from the higher level play from the United and the substitution options.

I've been thinking this since last season. Herron has shown great improvement, and we already know he's an athletic freak. Our weakness last year has become a spoil of riches for us.

Both will get reps, but Godchaux is going to benefit the most. He is going to be a nightmare for a whole bunch of centers and guards. Then when they start double-teaming him, the DEs, OLBs and DBs are going to eat from the outside.

This defense is going to be disruptive to say the very least.

I watched a little bit of LSU-Alabama 2011 last night. Bennie Logan was a bull. I noticed he just pushed the Gump o-lineman backward through sheer strength. Herron and Gilmore should be able to do the same thing. Since they'll be getting, let's say, 30% of the game reps, they should have the energy to go nuts and manhandle the blocker or runner they engage.

Gilmore showed me he can at least be a serviceable rotation guy. If he takes the next step in year two under yaya with Aranda coming on board LOOK OUT

Herron I want to see take that next step this year so he's a starting beast for his senior season. We've been waiting for Gilmore and Herron to take that next step what seems like forever now.

i'm still skeptical about both of our scrimmage lines. I say that because of the way bama and arky pushed them around last year.

I believe we will be better but how much I don't know.

Not only will Aranda's scheme get these guys more reps, but they'll be in their 2nd year of Coach O. Last year was enough to excite us and O was replacing bad habits with good ones. This year these guys could place themselves on NFL radars if they show out.

They did, but both those OLs were veteran crews while our DL was composed of 3 juniors followed up by a bunch of sophomores and freshmen. I think there will be a noticeable improvement from our entire D because they're gonna be a very seasoned group. Add to that the fact that Aranda's M.O. is to use schemes that make it difficult for opposing offensive players to read their assignments, and I think it's gonna be a really fun year to watch --even if Aranda's scheme isn't as complex or streamlined as it could be because he's had less than a year to install everything and work out all the kinks.
