When I worked on campus, I had several unfortunate encounters with this sorry excuse for journalism (the Reveille).
Due to the role I served on campus, there were many instances where I was "persuaded" by higher administration to deal with these kids. If I had a dollar for every time myself, or someone in my office was misquoted in order to sensationalize a stupid story, I could retire today. It even got to the point where WE would record our interviews with them. Yes, I bought my own personal tape recorder just as a backup for interviews with this joke of a newspaper, and these morons would still purposefully screw it up. And of course, IF we got a retraction, it was weeks later on a back page.
The LAST dealing I had with the Reveille involved a graduate who admitted to me she was trying to "break a good story" to put on her vita in order to get into grad school. I won't get into the details of what went down, but this little witch lied through her teeth on a story. I played back the tape of the interview to those in higher administration who encouraged me to talk with these morons, and after this incident, I got permission to turn them down for interviews until I eventually left LSU.
Long story short: Don't believe a damn thing that comes out of the Reveille unless it is a box score. And for those of you who worked there and are defending this story: I would expect nothing less.

This is going to be the next Watergate! The more sources comes out the more likely this goes straight to the President!

so maybe McCarthy DID pay Hicks to come to LSU. Do any of you KNOW he did not?
lol. So, the standard for reporting something is based on not knowing that something didn't happen.
You are pathetic.

Yup. Just the type of response I would expect from a former Reveille staffer. You've been trained well.

Hey EZE! We called it "The Daily Revile" when I was at LSU because of the shoddy journalism, which was vastly better than what is done today. It has only gotten much, much worse through the years.

Yeah I worked for the Reveille....in the real news section.

Oh yeah, the deterioration of this "newspaper" was in high gear during my time at LSU. When I got there in 2000, it was a decent paper. By the time I left, it was filled with people who had an agenda.....and this agenda, for many of them, was to make the University look as bad as possible, whenever possible.
Like I said, I'm not going to share a lot of details of my dealings with them due to the fact that I don't want to give away information about myself or my job, but when I "befriended" what was considered, at the time, one of their best "journalists", the things this individual told me about their agenda made my jaw literally hit the floor. To have someone sit in your office on campus and admit that they "wanted to be the person who put XXXX office on probation and/or in the gutter", really openened my eyes.
What scum.
And I know not all the reporters for the paper are not like that.....
But the squeaky wheel gets noticed.

I'm not sure you realize the Reveille has a long tradition of this.
Ever heard of the Reveille Seven?
This is nothing new.

So all you Reveille bashers, who wants to go ahead and eat some crow?

Doesn't necessarily mean that the statements in the Revielle article were true.

I told everyone in this thread there was probably a reason this was reported. people should email that reporter an apology.

You are retarded to use the kind of language you do on a sports board that little kids have access to. You are not an LSU fan and never have anything good to post about LSU.
