He was passable but clearly deficient compared to Slaughter.

Ok? People are pretending like it was some atrocious decision to start him. In hindsight it was I guess

Either way, Slaughter is in now. Hope he can get a couple hits.

Coomes is playing b/c he hits better than Slaughter. Pretty simple.

B/c he's better on defense. It just bit CPM in the arse this game. He pretty much just admitted he made the wrong decision by putting Slaughter in the game just now.

I really don't see how someone can't see that Coomes is the better hitter, & Slaughter is the better defender.

Hitting didn't cost LSU that game last night. Why change the lineup?

I agree. I'm just saying why CPM started Coomes. I never said he was right for doing it.

Coomes may not be the greatest hitter, but Slaughter has been looking lost at the plate.

Whole team has looked lost at the plate minus 1 or 2, so bring in a cold arse Coomes?

Coomes has hit better than Slaughter in the CWS. At least average wise. Slaughter hasn't done much besides that 3 run bomb with the wind blowing out at 14 mph.

For what it's worth...I would have rather started Slaughter at 1B. He's a huge strength at 1B. Not only does he not make errors...he makes plays that Coomes can't even get to. He's a middle infielder playing 1B.

It's easy to call out a decision like this after the game is underway. Still a lot of baseball left to play
