According to those rankings, SLU must have some outstanding pitching. And Rice can't hit water if they fell out of a boat

SLU is a really good team, but cannot hang with LSU's offense. SLU has hitters and can score, but LSU has better pitching. I would not be shocked if SLU beat LSU, but I do not think they could do it two games in a row.
Having degrees from both Universities obligates me to follow both schools.

Southeastern got slaughtered by LSU's island of misfit toy pitcher by committee, committed 4 errors and only managed 6 hits. Sure they're good for their conference, but are they really anywhere near the caliber of even a lower tier SEC opponent? They were one of the last teams in the entire field.

it doesn't have to be two games in a row
they could win, lose, win
they could win, lose, win

That SEC arrogance can bite LSU on the arse. This SLU team was going through a slump at that time and threw like the 5th guy in the bull pin. That game was not a post-season performance for either team. SLU has the talent and pitching to beat LSU. I just do not think they could win a 3 game series against LSU.

well it's not a 3 game series.

Well, I think LSU will win the regional going away, but SLU is a scary team the way they are playing ball right now.

they went 1-5 in their last two series of the season and didnt win the southland tournament.
doesnt seem like they're playing great to me.

They have been playing terribly to end the season. LSU is the hottest team in college baseball. Beating the #1 team in the country and the SEC champion is much more than competing with (they haven't won a series in a while) some southland foes. Your logic is flawed. Next time check the stats.

They aren't. UNO gave away the tournament opener against them with 3 errors in the last inning.
Jameson Fisher is a beast, but the Lions are just okay.
I hope they beat Rice.

Yeah they damn near played themselves out of the tournament with their performance the past couple of weeks.

SLU is not a concern. Neither is Rice. We'll sweep Coastal Carolina here. Hello Omaha!

Yes, because PM coached teams have translated their SEC Tourney runs and wins against #1 teams into great regional and super-regional performances.

Doesn't matter. I'll take LSU over Southeastern any day. Their team simply is not a great team. Stats are skewed when you consider the opponents playing in southeastern conference>southland. LSU is a much more sound ballclub than southeastern. For them to best LSU, LSU would have to completely melt down. Especially if they beat Rice and then have to face our ace. It is baseball so anyone could win on any day. LSU has melted 2 times in 10 years in supers/regionals. Been to Omaha 2 times in the last 4 years. Great argument Freddie. You're probably kin to the guy who's tweeting at Kendall Rodgers to fire Mainieri and replace him with Mitch Gaspard.

Nope, I am not trolling. I like PM, just his teams tend to fade this time of the year. I just have watched LSU struggle to put away less than good teams in regionals for the past 5 or 6 years. I have seen their team's offensive production drop to nothing. I think last year our top batters went 4 and 45 or something crazy like that in the postseason but lite up the SEC Tourney. I like this team they are scrappy, but young, I wonder if the lights are going to be too bright like at the beginning of the season.

Lions are in an underrated conference (believe lsu lost to 3 of them this year; Lamar, Nichols, McNeese?) and did play poorly towards the end of the season. Pitching is a B+. Hitting can be an A+ any given day, but they are streaky. I think we have just as many HRs as LSU this year. Que the stat checker. But yes they lean on Fisher who should be a first 5 round pick and 1st team All-American. Im just glad they are in the tournament. If riser can keep them focused and not gun-shy (like the loss earlier this year at the box) then they will be dangerous. I pick them to beat rice first game. Whoever their opponent is cant make errors because SLU is very aggressive on the bases.
