Regarding the NIT

Why does it even exist anymore?
Other than fans of teams in it, who cares about it?
The really good teams are in March Madness.
I know that at one time the NIT was a big deal but today it's all about MM.
How many of you are going to watch an NIT game over a MM game?
Seriously, tell me why I should care about the NIT.
Full disclosure: I'm not much of a basketball fan.

Do I have your permission to complain about the basketball team before I make a post ITT?

This is a great question.
I really wish they would completely do away with the NIT.

Teams like to play in the post-season (generally). The NIT isn't the Big Dance, but it's still something. Hell, they added the CBI recently, so it seems there is a place for postseason tourneys.
I'm not saying you should care about it, but basketball makes a fair amount of money for a lot of schools, especially once you figure in the TV deals. Giving the team and loyal fans a little something back, after the season is done, isn't a bad thing.
It's always interesting to see how the Monmouths and Valpo's do, because teams like that have no chance of an at-large bid to the NCAA.

Absolutely.
Since there are no other threads complaining about the basketball team feel free to kidnap this thread with your gripes.

Same reason there are a ton of bowl games. Gives the players something to play in and most would rather that than nothing. Especially for smaller schools. Oh and money.

The NIT is worthless. I am glad CJJ and the LSU Admins took us out of that farce.
The season was a big disappointment. Going to the NIT would simply have made it worse.

I would assume since some deserving teams get left out, it's a way to reward them with post season play.
If there was a NIT in football people wouldn't complain to see their team play a few more games.
Oh wait, this is the Rant of course they would complain.....
