Gives glass 1/2 empty & 1/2 full points. But it does show how this is NOT a rebuilding year & we are not short on talent. LINK

Reality is that outside of a total tank job with a 3-9 or 4-8 record, LSU has to stick with O for 3-4 years due to optics. If he goes 6-6/7-5 and we fire him 2 years in, combined with the instability that Miles dealt with from the end of 2015 into 2016...the inevitable effect is that you're going to put some level of doubt about LSU in the minds of the best coaches.

Obviously, the best coaches would understand the expectations of winning at LSU and wouldn't doubt their abilities to meet those standards. But, you also can't place the seeds of doubt in their mind to wonder "If I have a 7-5 year, does that put me on the hot seat? Will they go ahead and fire me?". LSU would be wise to not let themselves gain that reputation. I don't think Coach O was the right hire but he's the hire that was made. So barring an unprecedented disaster, we'll have to let his contract play out over the next 3+ years and reassess his status at that point.

I really wonder if there is not some sort of sabotage from within taking place. The Orgeron hire just makes 0 sense.

Do you guys stop to think that maybe the players don't really respect Ed Orgeron?

Sabotage from within? To what end?
Do you think Alleva is a pawn of some secret cabal of academics who hate football?

I always thought he was a players coach. However, once all those suspensions were announced I realized they may really not give a shite what he says or does.

Of course not. There have never been any conspiracies ever. Not sure why the word conspiracy is even in the lexicon...

On the current trajectory, Alleva is gone in one year, Orgeron in two...

I think many of the players like him but that doesn't mean they do respect him.

I will say with Miles his players always had his back and went through fire for him.

Seems like O this season is trying to hard to be something he isn't

Looks like he lost the fire, the one that normally rubs off on players

I think all the players, 2 or more starters at that, transferring out was telling. I really don't believe a vast majority of the players respect him. Which is why he's never been a coordinator, and doesn't really appear to be very good as a head coach. I do however accept that the bad recruiting numbers from previous years has hurt. But the attrition has killed this season.

Kinda lost me with the waste of ink with the comparison to Saban's start but got me back with this:

quote:

LSU decided that the state of the program was so unacceptable that the head coach must be fired while simultaneously believing that the status quo was so good that continuity must be valued and most of the staff would return. Frankly, that’s insane. And it is this sort of bipolar decision-making which is why LSU is still mired in the same existential crisis we thought we had put behind us last season.

6th rated roster in the nation according to 247 in talent yet CEO fanboys claim Les left us with nothing and we are rebuilding.

People need to stop doing this. There is nothing comparable about the programs back when Saban started and now. You can't say O = Saban just because both lost their first SEC game. Its asinine

There is talent, people are morons saying Les left nothing, the constant NFL departures say otherwise as well. This team has a lot of talent, many who do need experience but its asinine to say Les left no talent, its not true.

What killed this team is 5 O lineman transferring after O became the coach, but people want to blame Les for that?

It would be counterintuitive to think players committed to coach O but wouldn't respect him......

Now those who left were committed to Les Miles therefore I see a point.....

However, I just can't see players not respecting O as his main failure....hell if we are placing blame on somebody for the O hire....lsu players championed for O.

Agreed.
Even if his record is no better than 10-25 when he leaves LSU can still rebound.
But my biggest fear is that this is his dream job. He will do anything to keep it. Does that mean in 3 years he be willing to cheat to do it? Honestly, that is what scare me the most about him.
