I'm a little out of the loop on this, but who makes your short list if you are the AD?

No one would have put Skip in their top 5; no one put Saban there. The right coach is someone you have never heard of.

Dan McConnell - Louisville HC
Eric Bakich - Michigan HC - Bottom of HC list
Cliff Godwin - East Carolina HC - at Alma Mater
Josh Holliday - OK State - at Alma Mater

Nate Thompson - Arkansas Hitting Coach
Danny Borrell - GA Tech Pitching Coach
Skylar Meade - SC Pitching Coach

Not saying all for HC but entire staff needs overhaul

Does anyone have thoughts on Mike Bell?

Wasn't Skip an Asst ? How many people had heard of Corbin before he got to Vanderbilt? Van Horn went to Arkansas from Nebraska. Not exactly a baseball powerhouse. The good news is there are a lot of LSU people plugged into the baseball scene, so the list should be full of strong candidates.

Enough of this. The correct answer is someone with a difficult to spell and pronounce name.

The top 5 list from today will likely look much different when the times comes that we are actually looking for a new coach.

Louisville made the NCAA tournament one time in its history before Dan McDonnell was hired in 2007 and now they've made the tournament every season except one from 2007 to the Covid season and they've been to Omaha five times. That's who you send a blank check to.

I get where you are coming from on all of this, but I am not sure you can just buy the best coach in college baseball. Baseball coaches think differently. They care about stability over money. Texas who has just as much history as LSU and probably more money got told no by all the guys LSU fans want and CPM before they got the guy from Tulane.

You’ll see idiots downvote you but they have done ZERO research. Google top 5 baseball coaches that are younger abs his name is on that list. Not only will he get a look, he would get a very strong consideration.

Why would he give all of that up to come to the dumpster fire that is LSU?

The answer is he won’t.

That’s what I don’t know, do you go with a somewhat experienced but younger pitching / hitting coach as HC or do you want someone with actual HC experience?

If Riser wasn’t coaching at at school in LA, his name would never be posted here
